When I was mooching off my friend's Network account I was all about the 70's and 80's shows at MSG and the Spectrum. Good old-fashioned VIOLENCE~! whenever Patterson and Slaughter laced it up, and Ken freakin' Patera.

it's not on the Network but I also recommend looking at the big-ass Portland archive on YouTube.

I just don't understand in a promotion with Bryan, Cesaro, Rollins, Wyatt, Owens, Zayn, Balor, Itami, Ziggler, Neville, Barrett and on and on and on and on just gets it all so WRONG... I swear to Christ. It wasn't even just that Reigns won. The pacing of the match was just awful. Titus O'Neil was in at what, 28? I mean what the literal fuck? I swallow a lot of horseshit from WWE, I always (and still) maintain it's going to get REAL good in the next four or five years as the old guard fade away and guys like Balor and Zayn step up and Vince lessens his involvement in creative (hopefully, please baby Jesus). I really hope we're seeing what WWE will "look" like in a few years right now in NXT, that's my deepest hope for WWE.

But right now, I really don't know what WWE's doing. I really don't. That's the second year in a row they've booked a main event nobody wants for the biggest show of the year. You can FEEL how WWE just barrels forward without a plan. The frantic on the fly booking is just poking so many holes in that promotion its almost sad.

*sigh*

Oh, Vince and co. have a plan, it's called "fuck the fans, they don't know shit about shit."

It's almost admirable how much contempt Vince has for his fanbase and how much he wants to make them angry.

Only way it gets saved.... turn Reigns heel and turn Brock face.

The fans want Brock to be a face. Ever since he started going after Rollins a few weeks back, they've been cheering for him. When he jumped up and made the monster finish last night, there was a huge pop. It's the only way.

That way, if you MUST force Reigns down our throats, it'll be okay he's getting booed, because he's a heel and even X-Pac heat can be covered up. Then have him feud with someone we actually want to see after Lesnar leaves.

It is the only way.

Yup. Have Brock just stay "a problem" for Triple H and co. and Reigns make a deal with the devil to secure his "place in history."

And seeing Seth and Roman together again would be a stellar visual and set Ambrose up as a perfect adversary. Shit, why not have Wyatt and Ambrose team up against the Authority? There are ways to save all of this, question is will they pull the trigger on any of that tonight?

If there's even a show, word is weather is becoming an issue.

Hey guys!

We all know the WWE blew the pooch on the rumble(I mean LOL).

I'm curious about what are your favorite vintage matches. I think I'll call classic radio rules(at least 20 years old). I'm looking for some matches to watch mostly, YOUTUBE LINKS! DO EEIT.

So anyone else watch NXT Rival last night?

Spoilers ahead by the way, like... obviously.

Holy fuck, man. Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks just aren't good for Divas, they're two of my favorite acts in WWE right now. These two chicks are the best bet the ladies division of WWE has had to blow up since Trish and Lita. And these two girls, much respect to the Attitude era duo, are much more talented all around. Finn Balor continues to look like a legit megastar in the making, Neville hopefully is off to debut on the main roster soon and...

*deep breath*

Kevin Owens and Sami Sayn... next to no words dude. I can already see the story they're preparing to tell and I'm so goddamn excited. Kevin Owens has created a heel persona that's SO rare in WWE today. A heel who's motivations you totally understand and relate to but still find their actions repugnant. He's doing it for his family, he's doing what he has to to get over and succeed in WWE. So he powerbombs one of his closest friends nine times and walks away champ after a goddamn STOPPAGE.

NXT continues each and every rattle out of the box to impress the shit out of me on every possible level.

Jesus Christ that was a good show.

Owens and Balor just look like they were born ready for the main roster. KENTA looks like he's getting there, but he seems to be having a little more trouble with the transition. I guess that's what HHH was talking about when he was saying about some guys needing a little extra time and guidance.

If I were a diva that wanted to wrestle I'd be reluctant to be 'upgraded' from NXT to WWE. They get so much more time and as a result can actually put on a wrestling match. It's been a long, long time (Probably 27 years) since I've heard a 'this is wrestling' chant for a WWE divas match.

I wasn't convinced when they strapped Blake and Murphy either. The TV match was lackluster and the guys didn't impress me in the slightest, but after that match at Rival I'm a believer. Those guys have got something. Could they be solo stars? Who knows, but if they can work on their synchronicity as a team and avoid those couple of awkward moments they had where one wasn't certain what the other was doing then they could start to shine.

Also Hunico/Sin Cara has been impressing me. I think he's due a real shot on the main roster. When Mistico didn't work out/got suspended/got injured Hunico really stepped up when he had the mask on. Of course he was relegated when Mistico came back, but since Mistico's permanent departure Hunico hasn't had a chance on the main roster under the Sin Cara gimmick to really try and get over. I definitely want to see some more of him

Also Kalisto. If WWE are looking for a replacement for Mysterio they could potentially have one in him.

Bull Dempsey vs. Baron Corbin was the lowlight of the night for me. Corbin looks so green when he's not in a 20 second match, and I'm sorry, I know he's got a unique physique, but I'm just not buying Bull Dempsey. He looks like a poor man's Rhyno that's let himself go. If you're short and squat like Dempsey then you need something to counteract that. He lacks any real speed and he's not got that explosiveness that someone like Owens or Bray Wyatt has.

Also their match, billed as a no DQ match, didn't involve one thing that would result in disqualification. It's not even like Corbin hit his finisher onto the chair that Dempsey brought in.

Corey Graves on commentary was also annoying me. I know he's new at it and all that, so I'll give him a pass, but there's only so many times you can hear him correct or question Albert or whoever that other guy was. It seemed to be every other move.

Give me Renee Young, William Regal and Byron Saxton any day. There's a commentary team.

Complaints aside, FUCK YEAH NXT! I WANT MORE BEAMED DIRECTLY INTO MY FACE HOLES!

I mostly enjoyed the hell out of this show.

My larger nitpicks:
-Itami completely no-selling a ringpost figure-four and a separate leg sub hold and kicking repeatedly. They had a real chance to expand the Itami character in NXT beyond the perception of Tajiri 2.0 and failed.
-The tag team title match looks like an awkward botchfest for the first couple of minutes, and it was bad enough that I checked out of the match for good. I'll give the champs a pass, since they're kinda picking up the tag team thing on the fly, but they need some more time and maybe a little more personality.
-Corbin looks in over his head right now, but then again this is the development territories, and he's a long term project right now anyway. Let's have this conversation in 12 months and see how he develops.

Everything else about the show I loved. Balor/Neville was amazing, the 4-way women's match was great albeit a little sad that it's probably the prelude to a Charlotte call-up, and I'd put Zayn/Owens as the current match of the year...less physical than Cena/Rollins/Lesnar but edging out the triple-threat with superior storytelling.

I'm drooling over Owens/Balor, like majorly.

EDIT: Also, Owens is so trolling Chris Hero with the KO shirt, and I love every second of it.

I happened to catch NXT for the first time yesterday, and have to say, this is what WWE shows should be. Wrestling on a wrestling program imagine that.

The 4 way womens match was entertaining from start to finish and reminded me of a match from when the ladies were allowed to actually wrestle, like way back in the 80s-90s. Everyone in the match looks like they can actually string a wrestling match together. I was a little put off by the Bayley character wise, but she can throw down some wrestling moves. Stars of the match were definitely Charlotte and Sasha, but all 4 are better than 90% of the current WWE talent.

Balor/Neville was likely my favorite match of the night, I don't care for the Jeff Hardy meets Carnage/Spawn paint job Balor had going on, but to each their own. The match reminded me of Beniot/Malenko with few more high spots. Neville really impresses me with his skill and passion he showed in this match. The only let down in this match is Balor's finisher... That finisher is lame as fuck, surely they can come up with something better than that.

This is my first time seeing Kevin Owen (even prior to NXT) in the ring, and honestly I expected more from the high I've heard over this guy. Maybe this wasn't his best match, either way I wasn't buying it. Now granted he does seem to fit the mold of WWE with a handful of moves and an interesting character. Zayn impressed me more than Owen, he sold the fuck for Owen's and really made him look strong. Owen could have thrown a paperball all at Zayn and he would have made it look like he was hit with a canon ball. The clothesling in the corner he sold made Owen's look like he was trying to take his head off, same with the whip into the opposite corner later in the match was sold perfectly.

My take away from the entire show.

If this is where HHH wants to take the WWE, Vince needs to get the fuck out of the way already and let him take over completely so he can bring actual wrestling matches back to a wrestling program. I think I'd rather watch NXT than Raw or Smackdown at this point.

My weekly wrestling intake is usually the new NJPW show, ROH, NXT and Main Event. I DVR Raw and hit the high points.

Main Event honestly is a nice little taste of the main roster without dedicating three godforsaken hours of your evening.

I keep hearing about how amazing Lucha Underground is but I don't have the El Rey Network. Anyone know if there are reliable online sources for that show?

YouTube, my man. They're pretty much posted randomly as soon as next day. Lucha isn't my favorite I'll admit but the presentation is unique and these guys are pretty fucking awesome.

Yeah, YouTube is pretty much the place to go for wrestling. I've found a fuckton of accounts with lucha, puro, and even old-ass World of Sport stuff from England.

My protip? Look up LegitProWrestling and check out the massive archive of Portland wrestling from the late 70's and early 80's.
