(Fade in to Eric Wright sitting at a desk looking over some paperwork)
JJ, let's you and I chew the fat for a bit, ok?
mona on mona.
I paint myself pretty much as a realist.
I'm not gonna come out here and win Mr. Olympia with my muscles.
I won't be appearing on GQ's cover this month.
I may not even have the alcohol induced comedic reparte' of a Sammy Benson.
But, there ARE some things that I do, very very well. And one of those is flexing my ability to cut through the bull faster than just about any man alive.
And, let's you and I be realistic for a second. The tag team division in this company... hell, in this SPORT right now leaves a LOT to be desired.
There's little point to coming out here, ranting and raving, talking about legendary tag matches and how we're destined to rank right up there with the best of them.
There's little point to it because I'm smart enough to know that none of that has anything to do with this match.
The simple truth, is, that the tag team division in this company, right now, pretty much consists of a makeshift tag team as champions and a team that's had one match that never had an ending as it's top contender.
If you see it differently, you can feel free to let me know what I missed.
But, you see, we look at things a bit differently than Eddie Mayfield and Craig Miles did. They stopped caring.
They stopped caring about something because everybody else stopped caring. Why? Because it was easy.
And, I could come out here and say that if they HAD cared you may not be champions right now. I could say it. But, there's no point to it.
The hows and whys don't make a whole lot of difference right now.
We are where we are.
We don't deserve a shot at those belts because we never had a chance to prove what we could do.
But then, you didn't deserve the shot you got either.
The lesson of your own teaching, of course, is that deserving something and getting something don't ALWAYS go hand in hand.
At any rate, let's all make this as simple as possible. The four of you are in position to either make an awful lot of yourselves by BUILDING what most have given up on or fall flat on your face trying.
I'm an optomist. I'm baking on the former.
But, that's not going to happen over night for any of you.
And, what that means is simple. The four of you are going to get to know each other VERY well.
Tonight? No empty promises. No threats.
Just a very simple statement.
By the end of the night, you WILL get to know the <> Cutters.
That much, I can assure you
