As you get older and you've had your success, you start thinking about life after wrestling, you start looking around and asking yourself, “What can I do to leave this sport a better place?” Then you stumble across someone, a good guy, who has all the tools, but simply hasn't put it all together yet, no matter how much they try, and you feel for them. You want help them to do better, so they can get over that hump and achieve their full potential. So you take them under your wing in hopes that you can make a difference, initially, everything is seemingly going well and you see that progress is being made. They start to taste a little bit of success that you've had and you hope that it will motivate them to learn by your example, the problem is instead of asking questions and wanting to be better, they don't and when you offer advice, they ignore it....then you realize the reason they have never gotten anywhere is because they are content being second or third best.... as heartbreaking as it is, you could find a way to live with all of this... but then they become a backseat driver... you are stuck driving the car by yourself while simultaneously getting barked at by the old nag in back. Telling you what to do, making ultimatums, doing things you know will turn out badly, and your life becomes a living hell.
You have two choices, you can either drive the car off the cliff or kick the ***** out.
I decided to kick the ***** out of the car. Doe, I had such high hopes for you coming along and being the next big thing, taking you under my wing in DREDD on our mission to dethrone the Borinator Jean Rabesque... but you didn't listen and you don't know how much it breaks my heart. You were like a brother to me, but you couldn't even beat Cameron Cruise or Chaos and get to that next level.
Now you are facing the SWIFT World Heavyweight Champion in a submission match, a man whom champions like Scott Stevens and Shawn Hart are even afraid to face. There is only one thing left to do, I'm going to end your career and correct a mistake I should have taken care of a long time ago. It didn't have to come to this, I wanted to make this work, but I'm not going to be the one going off the cliff.
I'm sorry John.... I love you.
