am i alone here?

while the Wii's online abilities leave much to be desired (at the moment), i'd still like to add some FWC'ers on as my first WiiFriends!

y'all know you wanna see my Mii struttin' it's proverbial stuff on your screen, heh.

I absolutely love my Wii.

I love it. Love it. Love it.

And w/ Mario Party 8 coming out next month, I'm going to be in Heaven.

I'll put my Wii # soon ... gotta finish NEW's show first and I don't want to get distracted by turning on the Wii :)

The wrong side of the bong slide.
I don't have one, but I have a blast every time I get a chance to play.

In terms of online ability, the games will come (the new Smash Bros., for example, has been confirmed as online-playable, I believe, which is gonna sell like hotcakes), but for now the virtual console is a pretty badass idea, coupled with the classic controller you can buy for the Wii.

I got drunk a month or two ago at a friend's house and played Street Fighter II and Sonic the Hedgehog for hours and hours.

yeah. the virtual console is pretty nice. my girlfriend, alicia, loves the classic mario games on there. i d/l'ed Tecmo Bowl the first day it was available. somehow finding myself stumped between labyrinths on the original Legend of Zelda (though i beat it twenty times twenty years ago).

game i've actually played the most recently is Elebits. horrible storyline with the most piss-poor storytelling ever put on display in a video game. but throwing stuff around, turning them over and shaking them has a decidedly jedi feel to it.

which ... is fun.

some things i don't understand about the wii:

Why TMNT is only a one player game? THERE ARE FOUR TURTLES! The arcade games were always four player maximum ... why ... when you have the capability of having 4 players, would you make it a one player game?

Why Wario Ware is a one player game? I MEAN HELLO. Wii should be popping out four player (or more!) games like crazy...

I can't wait for Mario Party 8 to come out though. And Madden 2007 is hot.

If you're referring to TMNT the original NES game, it's because it's always been a one player game. If you're referring to the new TMNT game, I hate to tell you, but all versions of that game are one player only. So it's not just the Wii version.

Wario Ware is multiplayer. I believe you can play up to 12 people. You just need to connect more than one remote and unlock it by completing the game or something. I forget.

And I really recommend Super Paper Mario as it's one of the best games this year, and quite possibly of all time. Mix one part Super Mario Bros., one part Super Mario Bros. 2, and one part Paper Mario, and voila! Instant fun!

Try connecting a second Wiimote and then go to the main screen. Maybe multiplayer will be revealed.

the multiplayer on smooth-moves is unlocked after beating the main section of the game. but it's worth it.

i haven't tried Super Paper Mario yet. my girlfriend has not released the Wii-mote from her sweaty, sexy grasp as of yet to give me even a glimpse of opportunity.

but i'm excited to!

I've got a Wii with online capabilities. My wife is watching the TV its on now, but I'll drop my number on here tomorrow. So far I've got Zelda, Red Steel, Wii Play, and Wii Sports (of course). I heard Madden 07 is suppose to be able to play across the internet, so I'm looking forward to that. Anyway, I'll get the number tomorrow.

Anything that has anything to do with Ninetendo is total garbage.

I disagree when it comes to the DS. It's been the best selling system for a LONG time now.

My wii friend number is 1814 1218 5606 5238, I'll add every number in this thread yo.

That's one of my gripe's about the system actually. I understand Nintendo wants to protect the "children." But it drives me batty that there's no notification system. IE: I add you, you get an MSN pop-up message saying "You have been added by the #, would you like to add this person as a friend?" or something. No. I have to add YOUR number. You have to add MY number. And if one person doesn't bother, then it never hooks up nor can I even message you to say "Hey, add me!"

Another complaint is just that "WiiConnect24" doesn't do much, and if I'm "connected" 24-7, why do I have to constantly "load" up the new sites? Ehn. Nintendo's online is free, but Xbox live is sooooo much better. Hopefully Nintendo does a firmware update in the near future to improve the online accessibility. It's a bit assbackwards right now.

I enjoy the Wii. Zelda was great (though technically a gamecube game). Super Paper Mario is very fun. Then there's... uh... well, not much. It's been eight months and there are precious must-have games (more than PS3 has though). Godfather was good, but is a multi-platform. Virtual Console is great but I want some new games...

Fortunately for all us Wii users, at E3 Nintendo revealed release dates for BIG GUNS and it's going to ramp up right away.

Mario Strikers Charged - July 30
Metroid Prime 3 - August 27 (OH YES)
Mario Galaxy - November 12
Smash Bros Brawl - December 3
Mario Kart Wii WITH FULL ONLINE CAPABILITY - Spring 2008

Plus stuff like Guitar Hero III (Yes!), NiGHTS: Journey Into Dreams, and a slew of third party games I have no idea about, but they're not just random ports from other systems with tacked on motion control, but built for the Wii from ground up.

Anyways, I'm a Nintendo fan and looking forward to all these games, there are just some things that bug me about the system. This fall it looks like we'll start to see just how much people can REALLY do with the Wii. Metroid Prime 3 looks amazing.

I was disappointed by the multi-player of Smooth Moves (it's so cheap you have to unlock it, heh.) There are so few game modes and not one uses simultaneous play. It's nice that you can do multi with less than four wii-motes on the game, but after the insanity that was the GameCube multi-player with my buddies, Smooth Moves just doesn't cut it. Not really worth full-price IMO, the game is so short and multi-player is very shallow.

Super Paper Mario is a lot of fun, and my wife loves it. It can get a little tedious - all three paper mario's have that issue - but it's VERY clever and even Metroid-ish in how new areas open up with new powers. It's artistically beautiful as well and controls brilliantly.

Yeah, TP was really a GameCube game but they released a Wii version to help the launch. They are working on an "official" Wii Zelda game to release. We probably won't see it for at least another 2 years or so, though.

Mario Galaxy is out now, I'm looking forward to playing it. I told my wife I wanted it for Christmas so I'm trying to hold off and see if she's going to buy it for me before I drop the cash on it. :p
