The best handler ever since 2012: He is a gem
MORTON MURPHY:
"Hello, Phil. Firstly, let me be one of the long line of people to congratulate you on becoming the FIRST Intergalactic Champion. Well done, sir!"
PHIL ATKEN:
"The line's not that long Morton, I think everyone is still in shock. Hell, I think I'm still in shock."
MURPHY:
"Well regardless to say, it was some feat. To become the first Intergalactic Champion, defeating those four men on what was arguably the biggest stage in this industry surely would leave anyone shocked.
"Tell me, Phil... what did it mean to you to raise that belt above your head in victory"
ATKEN:
"It just went to show that you shouldn't always put the horse down. Some of 'em still have a lot of vitality and stamnia. To stand in that ring and go toe to toe with the future of this industry and come out victorious, to overcome a five year long title drought, I almost can't believe it really happened. What this victory means to me is incalculable Morton, incalculable."
MURPHY:
"Incalculable in the way you don't think it should have happened to you?"
ATKEN:
"Odd way to read into that, my dearest Morton. Let me break it down for you, shall I? Incalculable in the great pleasure it gave me to prove everyone wrong. The pundits who sat on the sidelines, ready to declare my career dead on arrival when I signed up to qualify for the damn thing. Those in ACW who tossed me out on my ass, only to have their own team shown up by me and Max Hopper. Those who declared that Survivalism was about the future and it was inconcievable to them for a relic from the past like me to even be a factor in the title bout. To stand here now, belt on my shoulder, rubbing it in the faces of everyone who doubted me, I cannot attach a number to the pleasure it gives me Morty, that's what's incalculable."
MURPHY:
"Well, if personal opinion were odds... you'd certainly fought against them. Leyenda de Ocho is an up-and-coming superstar in professional wrestling, Phil. I thought he really took it to you in the match at Survivalism. Tell me... walk me through the final stages of your Championship victory at Survivalism. Tell me what was going through your mind.
ATKEN:
"I won't lie Morts, the kid is good. Shockingly good for the amount of time he's spent in the industry, almost like a young me. I'll be interested to see the path he takes in the months to come, looks like he's already trying to fire his second shot at me at "Sorry, You're Not a Winner". You see, in those final moments Morty, you saw a veteran against a rookie, and Ocha lived up to the cliché "rookie mistake", he went high risk, I saw opportunity and I struck. That experience is why I have the Intergalatic Championship right now and he's down at the bottom of the ladder trying to fight his way back up."
MORTON:
"Well, de Ocho has a chance to win a title shot for V for Victoralicious and many are calling for Atken v. Ocho II to take place. That's if he makes it. And more importantly, if you can get through the challenge set for you. Jack Harmen. Magnus Destructo. Aran Thompson. All of them facing off to wrestle you in the main event in your first title defense, Phil. What are your thoughts on that contest? Who will you face?"
ATKEN:
"Well Magnus seems to wish to rip off my face and I must admit that I'm actually quite keen on my face so all things being equal, I would be happy to never stand opposite that rambling whackjob for the rest of my career. Jack and Aran though, you're killing me Morty. Two of the biggest names in the business and they're gunning for my belt, I'd almost be honoured if I didn't know the hard work the . To me, I can't even pick a horse in the race right now, there's no one I would say would be a soft touch for me, no one I'd hope to win for the easy defense. They should be warned though, I'm not planning to lose this great IGC title on my first defenses, I'll be swinging, I'll be rabid and I will do anything in my power to ensure this (Phil pats the belt) remains around my waist."
MURPHY:
"It's no easy feat. That's for sure. Will you walk into V for Victoralicious as the Intergalactic Champion, Phil? Can you overcome the odds?"
ATKEN:
"Defying the odds is almost coming as habit to me. Even as champion, my legitimacy is doubted and I will thrive in an environment that will put that silly little thought to rest, no matter who comes my way."
MURPHY:
"So, Phil. What I'd like to do is do some word association with you. I'll say a word. You respond with the first thing that comes into your head. Here we...
