(The scene fades into an empty swimming pool. The water is drained; some leaves and trash have blown into it during the winter. A rather stout black man stands in the middle of it, wearing a black addidas work out suit and silver sunglasses. He stands there with his arms folded with a smug look on his face as the camera closes in...)
Man: I hate swimmin. All my life, people have made fun of the fact that I can’t swim. It’s not that I never wanted to swim, but the fact that I never had a place to learn how to swim at.
I’m the oldest of 6 chirren. My poppa raised us up by himself, cause my momma wasn’t around... nobody knew where she was, but she would come around once an a while, I guess when she got hongry... I had to raise my brothers and sisters ‘cause my father was always workin. I had a lot of responsibility at an early age... and never had the time to learn to swim.
(He unfolds his arms and takes off his shades... places them on his collar...)
But enough about my childhood... I wasn’t the most gifted athlete in school... I wasn’t very good at the book learnin’... I was always good with my hands though... Boy, I was glad when I gots into High School and I took Auto Mechanics and learnt a trade... I finally had a good outlook on life.
But all that changed one day. My baby brother, Tito, he was working at that local Bank. We was so proud of him, cause he had to dress up in a shirt and tie to go to work, and he was making something good out of his self. A man came in and robbed the bank... Tito tried to be a hero, and ended up getting shot and killed... over money... over someone’s greed, and over his own sense to do what’s right.
(Fearless starts to tear up... so he puts the shades back on...)
My real name is Fearless... People aks me if that is on my birth certificate, and yes, it is... But Tito, Tito was the one that was fearless, and paid the ultimate price. Now, every time I hear my name... every time I read my name on mail... every time I sign my name, I am reminded of what happened to my baby brother... and how he was REALLY Fearless...
You see this pool I’m standing in... All the water is gone... but you know, come summertime, it will be all filled up... all 10 feet of it. This pool is like Fearless Jones. It’s winter time, and it’s empty now.... but you know, you KNOW that in the future this pool will be filled up to the edge, just as Fearless Jones will someday be a force to be reckoned with in the CSWA. I’m not here to have fun. I’m not here to dominate the competition... I’m not here to ruin any lives, to kick any ass, or to take any names. It’s all irrelevant to me... I’m here to prove to MYSELF that I am Fearless. I am here to prove to the FANS that I am Fearless, and I am here in tribute to my Baby Brother.... in memorial to the most FEARLESS man I have ever known.
(Fearless crosses his arms again...)
You don’t have to watch out for me CSWA. I’ll be making my presence FELT.
(The camera starts to pan away...)
(Shouting) I AM FEARLESS!
