[Fade into the TEAM studios, Steve Murray sitting at the news desk.]

SM: Hello everyone, and welcome to this special EPICENTER bulletin, and we have the results of the play-in matches for the the Portland bracket, both held at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, CA.

The first match, between Sean Stevens and Rob Franklin, was for the spot vacated when Sanket Desai and Cameron Cruise double forfeited. It was a hotly contested match, but it ended with a missed Icebreaker headbutt from the top from Franklin, which Stevens quickly segued into his X-Terminator, a modified version of the Osaka Street Cutter. Stevens got the win, but after the match, the LA crowd gave the rookie Rob Franklin a standing ovation for his efforts. Franklin goes home, but folks, I think he's a star now.

Next match was between James Irish and IrishRed for the spot vacated by Tsuyoshi Tanaka and Drunken Tiger. It was another back and forth affair, these two are old rivals. It ended with James countering out of a German suplex attempt right into his own version of the Osaka Street Cutter, the Air Check. James moves onto the second round to take on Shawn Hart.

That's it from the TEAM studios. Be sure to tune into more first round action right here on Alternative Sports Network on Thursday. Thanks for tuning in.
