TEAM is very proud to announce that its flagship Invitational Tournament will return for a third year! For those of you who don’t know, it's a single-elimination tournament held in the style of March Madness. Wrestlers are separated into brackets played out in a city rich with wrestling tradition. The winner receives the Chad Merritt Trophy, and that person banks a shot at the TEAM Championship of Champions.
Last year, Dan Ryan and Ulysis Solian battled tooth and nail to reach the final, where in one of the best RPed matches in TEAM history, Ryan eked out the victory and hoisted the Merritt Trophy high above his head. Can he repeat this year? Will he even want to? Will the winner be 2007 TEAM Wrestler of the Year Nova? Ravager, Rob Franklin or some other rising star? How about Dupree Cup Most Valuable Wrestler Danny Ferguson? Or will it be... you? This tournament can make a star out of anyone. Just ask Fusenshoff, who nearly knocked off Ryan. Or Karl Brown, who won the first installment of this tournament. It doesn’t matter if you’re wrestling royalty or a green character looking to catch a break. Anyone can take this tournament.
Guidelines for entry
- This is an OPEN INVITATION tournament. This means you can sign up with any free agent or fed-related character.
- There is no limit to the number of characters entered per handler. Please note that if you apply to enter with more than one character, there is no guarantee you’ll get more than one character entered. Due to size constraints, you may get one of your characters bumped for a handler only entering one character.
- All pertinent TEAM rules apply. Please refer to the TEAM FAQ for further clarification.
- All RP styles are welcomed. There will be no discrimination against style. The only writing requirement is that your RPs be related to the match at hand, the tournament or at the very least, your entrant’s development or character as a wrestler.
- All matches will be judged by myself and two other judges chosen at random from a pool of floating candidates who are not participating in the tournament or who have been eliminated.
- All results will be posted in short-form format up until TEAM SuperShows VIII and IX, the semifinal and final rounds respectively.

There are several easy ways for you to confirm entry into the TiT.
- Reply here or at the threads at the other various communities this note is being posted.
- Tell me via PM at FW, A1, PTC, the PRIME boards, the NAPW boards or wherever else I have a message board account.
- E-mail me at any one of my several accounts (tom DOT holzerman AT gmail DOT com, holzerhedrpca AT aol DOT com, fwwotm AT gmail DOT com)
- IM me on AIM or Gmail chat
- Leave a comment in any random LiveJournal entry that I might make
- Send me a smoke signal
- Telegraph me using Morse Code
- Go to the Flame Station and tell Mikhail to send me a message using SONAR
Seriously, just let me know one way or the other. I’m pretty easygoing, and I’d like for as many of you to compete in this tournament as humanly possible. Deadline for entry will be Friday, February 29th, 2008 at 11:59:59 PM, EST (give or take a second). Brackets will be announced via live draw in an AIM chat room on Monday, March 3rd, 2008 at 8 PM EST, and they will be reprinted the next day via an EPICENTER special edition.
