WFW Christmas Card: Christian Sands vs. Jean Rabesque

JONATHAN MARX: This should be fun, few wrestlers know how to wrestle like Rabesque.

VIC WATERS: Is that why Lindsay Troy calls him the Borinator?

JONATHAN MARX: People who call Rabesque’ work in the ring boring don’t know their ass from their elbow. He may not be as exciting as Jesus on the mic, but who is?

BRANDON JACOBS: He has the best bottle cap collection ever.

VIC WATERS: But getting back to Rabesque, if Rabesque wants to win, he is not only going to have to beat Christian Sands in his debut tonight, but he is going to have to keep a close eye on Lindsay Troy on the outside.

JONATHAN MARX: Lindsay Troy would love to get a piece of Rabesque since they never had a chance to finish their business in NFW properly. But Rabesque has to keep his focus on Sands tonight because if he starts worrying about Troy will do, Sands could take advantage of that and these two are pretty closely match and Sands is twenty years younger.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque started late in his career so he had to work twice as hard as most of the younger talent simply to stay ahead of the game and sometimes his frustrations show through, but these fans see how hard Rabesque works and have witnessed the great battles he has fought that he has won over the people.

VIC WATERS: While Sands has had a much shorter career in contrast to Rabesque, he has had his share of great battles to in GXW and in Empire against Beast and Cameron Cruise and I have a feeling tonight is his night. Ever since his match that went to a draw against Rabesque, he has wanted a second shot at beating him and tonight may just be that night.

BRANDON JACOBS: Lets send this down to ringside and let the show begin!

CUEUP: "Shapes of Things" by The Jeff Healy Band)

RING ANNOUNCER: Introducing first, a GLCW Legend and a Leader in the NFW South, a wrestler proclaimed by some as the god of technical wrestling, JEAN RABESQUE!

::Jean Rabesque comes down to the cheers of the crowd and enters the ring::

RING ANNOUNCER: And his opponent, from Barrie, Ontario, Canada… accompanied by the Queen of Wrestling Lindsay Troy, one of the most promising stars in all of wrestling today….. CHRISTIAN SANDS!

::Christian Sands walks down to the ring to a mixed reaction side by side with Lindsay Troy, Sands hands Troy his sunglasses and coat and enters the ring::

JONATHAN MARX: This may be the first time we have had two wrestlers who reside in Canada actually face off one against one.

VIC WATERS: The closest we have come is Edmunds verses Rabesque but Edmunds was only born in Canada, he wasn’t residing there.

*bell rings*

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque extends his hands out to Sands for a lock up….

JONATHAN MARX: It will be fun to see some good old fashioned wrestling for a change.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS CHARGES RABESQUE AND BUSTS HIM IN THE FACE WITH AN EUROPEAN UPPERCUT TO THE FACE! Sands continues in rapid fire and he is driving Rabesque back towards the ropes.

VIC WATERS: I have never seen Sands this angry.

JONATHAN MARX: Sands must want to wear down Rabesque with abuse before he takes him to the mat.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands goes to take Rabesque down with a hiptoss… RABESQUE IS FIGHTING IT!

VIC WATERS: Old man Rabesque is being stubborn…

BRANDON JACOBS: RABESQUE LOCKS IN A FRONT FACE LOCK ON SANDS AND HE DDTS HIM DOWN TO THE MAT!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque still has the reflexes of a teenager, great counter there.

VIC WATERS: He just caught Sands off guard.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque grabs the leg of Sands and drags him to the center of the ring… RABESQUE STARTS KICKING AWAY AT THE BACK OF THE LEG OF SANDS!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque is already beginning to work on setting up the figure four leglock. If he weakens those legs, it is going to be much easier to get the submission later on.

VIC WATERS: Sands is never going to let it get to that point, this is only a momentary set back.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands is trying to pull himself towards the ropes but Rabesque is holding on to that leg…. SANDS LOOKS LIKE HE IS MAKING SOME PROGRESS BUT RABESQUE PULLS HIM BACK AND HE FLIPS HIM OVER AND LOCKS ON A HALF CRAB ON THE RIGHT LEG OF SANDS!

JONATHAN MARX: This works on his upper leg muscle and his lower back, Rabesque is making sure that if and when he gets that figure four on, Sands won’t have any chance to break it.

VIC WATERS: Sands is never going to give up this early in the match.

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque isn’t going for the submission here, he is just putting it on Sands to wear him down.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands leg is in pain and is trying to pull his body towards the ropes but Rabesque has his legs dug in and Sands isn’t budging him.

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque always knows where he is in that ring. He dragged him to the center of the ring before he locked the hold on to make sure Sands couldn’t escape to the ropes and break the hold.

BRANDON JACOBS: The ref is checking to see if Sands wants to give up but he is shaking his head no… WAIT A SECOND, SANDS LIFTS UP HIS LEFT LEG AND HE STARTS KICKING RABESQUE WITH THE SIDE OF HIS HEEL INTO HIS RIGHT LEG!

JONATHAN MARX: The back of most wrestling boots are enforced for ankle support so he is hitting him with the hardest part of that book right in the side of the leg.

VIC WATERS: How many other guys besides Sands would think about that?

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque lets go of the hold and grabs his left leg. He looks like he is in a great deal of pain.

JONATHAN MARX: Sands got the break, now he has to take advantage of it before Rabesque can regroup.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands moves over towards the ropes and uses them to help himself up…. SANDS HOPS ON HIS GOOD LEFT LEG AND DIVES SHOULDER FIRST INTO THE BACK OF RABESQUE’S INJURED LEG AND RABESQUE FALLS BACK ONTO THE MAT GRABBING HIS KNEE!

JONATHAN MARX: Now there is no call for Sands clipping his knee.

VIC WATERS: That is simply good wrestling. He saw a weakness and he went for the kill.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands grabs the injured leg of Rabesque…. HE LOCKS ON A SPINNING TOE HOLD!

JONATHAN MARX: Shades of Dory Funk Jr.

VIC WATERS: And Jumbo Tsuruta…

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS STARTS TWISTING THE LEG OF RABESQUE OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND THE REF IS ASKING RABESQUE IF HE WANTS TO GIVE UP BUT HE IS TELLING HIM NO!

JONATHAN MARX: While this mainly works the lower leg, it also puts pressure on the knee when he is wrenching his leg around and around.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS FINALLY LETS GO! Sands bends down over Rabesque and starts trash talking Rabesque as Rabesque is clutching his knee in agony.

JONATHAN MARX: I don’t understand why Sands would want to anger Rabesque further than he has already.

VIC WATERS: Sands wants to get into Rabesque head, if he angers him, he could make him do something he may not during the heat of the moment.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS PICKS RABESQUE UP BY THE HAIR AND HE HURLS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND RABESQUE CRASHES DOWN ON THE FLOOR!

JONATHAN MARX: The way Rabesque landed, he crashed down on that leg that Sands has been working over most of the match. It has gone from bad to worse.

VIC WATERS: Don’t forget Lindsay Troy is out there too…

BRANDON JACOBS: The ref is trying to keep Sands to the outside to give Rabesque a chance to get back up.

JONATHAN MARX: The referees have a great respect for veterans like Rabesque having worked with them so often especially ones which don’t brutalize them back.

VIC WATERS: Roughing up a referee is just their way of showing their love.

BRANDON JACOBS: LINDSAY TROY GRABS A CHAIR FROM SOMEONE IN THE AUDIENCE AND SHE IS COMING TOWARDS RABESQUE FOR THE STERILIZER!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque better watch out, Lindsay is a real ball buster.

BRANDON JACOBS: TROY SWINGS BUT RABESQUE MOVES OUT OF THE WAY IN THE NICK OF TIME! BUT TROY SWINGS A SECOND TIME AND CLIPS HIM WITH THAT INJURED KNEE AND RABESQUE ROLLS AROUND IN PAIN! Lindsay slides the chair under the ring and the referee FINALLY turns around and he is trying to make sense of this whole thing.

JONATHAN MARX: Wrestling is too violent.

VIC WATERS: With all the crazy things that has happened in WFW, one person takes a shot at someone groin with a steel chair and you say wrestling is too violent?

JONATHAN MARX: Yeah.

VIC WATERS: Works for me, but we don’t need any more Canadians running around this place besides from Sands.

JONATHAN MARX: So much Canadian hate…

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS PUSHES HIS WAY PAST THE REFEREE AND HE IS COMING OUT TO WORK OVER RABESQUE!

JONATHAN MARX: This is very dangerous for Rabesque, he needs to get back in that ring before those two do any further damage to his leg.

VIC WATERS: Sands and Troy have Rabesque right where they want him. Imagine the feather in their cap if they could beat Rabesque here in his WFW debut on PPV.


BRANDON JACOBS: Sands picks up Rabesque and he is instructing Troy to rip up the mats at ringside….

JONATHAN MARX: The referee is yelling at Sands and Troy but they don’t seem to be listening.

VIC WATERS: They are on a mission to beat Rabesque.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS LOCKS IN A COBRA CLUTCH AND HE DRIVES RABESQUE WITH A SAND BLASTER ONTO THE CONCRETE FLOOR! Rabesque is folded up like an accordion on the floor!

JONATHAN MARX: There is no call for this brutality. Inner Circle won’t be happy until they eliminate all the threats to them in WFW.

BRANDON JACOBS: The referee climbs through the ropes and goes out to the floor and he is ordering Sands to get back into the ring.

JONATHAN MARX: It is good to see the referee is finally putting his foot down.

VIC WATERS: Well it is too late for Rabesque anyway, how is going to get up on floor after taking the Sand Blaster on the floor?

JONATHAN MARX: You may have a point there, Rabesque doesn’t look in good shape.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands slides back into the corner and Troy is giving Rabesque room to get up like the referee requested… THE REF IS BEGINNING TO MAKE THE COUNT!

REF: ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! FIVE!

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque is moving but is having trouble getting his bearings.

JONATHAN MARX: Come on Rabesque!

REF: SIX! SEVEN! EIGHT! NINE! TEN!

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque is using the guardrail to pull himself back up….

REF: ELEVEN! TWELVE! THIRTEEN! FOURTEEN! FIFTEEN!

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque is walking towards the ring but he is having trouble putting weight on his leg.

REF: SIXTEEN! SEVENTEEN! EIGHTEEN!

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque climbs back onto the apron….. LINDSAY TROY IS HOLDING HIS FOOT AS HE IS TRYING TO GET IN! Rabesque yells to the referee that Lindsay is holding him and Sands rushes Rabesque… RABESQUE DROPS HIS SHOULDER AND IT GOES STOMACH FIRST INTO SANDS!

JONATHAN MARX: Quick reaction by Rabesque!

VIC WATERS: It was a sucker shot.

BRANDON JACOBS: RABESQUE SHAKES TROY OFF HIS LEG AND HE SUNSET FLIPS OVER THE TOP ROPE AND HAS SANDS FOR A PIN! THE REF IS GOING DOWN FOR A COUNT!

VIC WATERS: God damn, when is Rabesque’ luck going to run out?

JONATHAN MARX: When luck happens enough, it is skill.

BRANDON JACOBS: 1------------------------------------------------------------------2------------------------------------------------ SANDS GETS THE SHOULDER UP BEFORE THE THREE!

VIC WATERS: That was too close!

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque picks up Sands and he is going for a Russian Leg Sweep… SANDS ELBOWS RABESQUE RIGHT IN THE FACE AND IT SENDS HIM STUMBLING BACKWARDS!

JONATHAN MARX: That elbow was vicious.

VIC WATERS: He couldn’t let Rabesque establish his momentum again after all the work he did.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS GRABS THE DAZED RABESQUE AND LOCKS ON THE DRAGON SLEEPER!

VIC WATERS: YES! FINISH HIM!

BRANDON JACOBS: RABESQUE IS STARTING TO GO OUT BUT HE IS FIGHTING IT!

JONATHAN MARX: Troy is pounding on the mat and is yelling at Sands that this is his chance.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque makes his body weightless… AND HE SLIPS OUT OF THE HOLD! Rabesque falls down onto his knees…. SANDS CHARGES RABESQUE FROM BEHIND WITH A ROLLING NECK SNAP AND RABESQUE FALLS FORWARD ON TO THE MAT GRABBING HIS NECK!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque thought he escaped by Sands got him again.

VIC WATERS: These guys have been countering each other’s moves all night with anyone and everyone to escape.

JONATHAN MARX: That is why they are two of the best in the world.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands picks up Rabesque off the mat… SANDS GRABS RABESQUE BY HIS NECK AND LIFTS HIM ON HIS BACK IN A FIREMAN’S CARRY IN A HANGMAN LIKE MANEUVER!

JONATHAN MARX: That is only way one of these guys are going to stay down, they are going to have to be dead or close to it.

VIC WATERS: Death is for old people.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS IS HOLDING IT ON AND RABESQUE IS STRUGGLING TO BREAK FREE….. SANDS FINALLY DELIVERS THE NECKBREAKER!

JONATHAN MARX: That move could easily break someone’s neck if it just a bit off.

VIC WATERS: It isn’t Sands’ neck, why worry?

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque is rolling around in pain… SANDS MAKES THE COVER ON RABESQUE!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque needs to kick out. It would be a huge advantage for Sands if he were to win the first fall in this series.

VIC WATERS: The ref needs to hurry up!

BRANDON JACOBS: THE REF GOES DOWN FOR THE COUNT! 1-----------------------------------------------------2------------------------------------- RABESQUE GETS HIS FOOT ON THE ROPES!

JONATHAN MARX: When Rabesque was rolling around in agony, he got closer to the rope and he saved himself by doing that. Rabesque knows where he is in that ring at all times. That is what makes him a the ring general that he is.

VIC WATERS: Rabesque got lucky, he doesn’t have much energy left.

JONATHAN MARX: Each kickout takes a little bit out of you.

BRANDON JACOBS: A frustrated Sands pulls Rabesque away from the ropes to the center of the ring… SANDS PICKS UP RABESQUE AND HE IS GOING FOR THE COBRA CLUTCH BUT RABESQUE THROWS A FOREARM BACK IN THE FACE OF SANDS!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque is running on pure instinct right now and he caught Sands off guard.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque hooks Sands…. RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP!

JONATHAN MARX: Now that is old school.

VIC WATERS: I am waiting for the airplane spin to make a return.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque gets up… AND SANDS IS TRYING TO GET BACK UP TO HIS FEET BUT HE IS HAVING TROUBLE KEEPING HIS BALANCE! Rabesque kicks Sands in the midsection…. RABESQUE SNAP SUPLEXES SANDS DOWN TO THE MAT!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque looks hurt his knee even worse on that suplex.

BRANDON JACOBS: RABESQUE IS GOING FOR THE COVER ON SANDS!

VIC WATERS: Rabesque better get this, because with his knee, I doubt he’ll be able to go much longer.

BRANDON JACOBS: THE REF GOES DOWN TO COUNT! 1-----------------------------------------------2----------------------------------- SANDS KICKS OUT!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque was too tired to keep him down for a three. He needs to finish him with what brought him to the dance.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque gets up…. HE GRABS THE LEGS OF SANDS AND HE IS HOOKING ON THE FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK!

JONATHAN MARX: So many of the greats have tapped to Rabesque’ figure four, Sands really has a task getting out of this.

VIC WATERS: Rabesque worked over his leg early in the match, but since then Rabesque has mainly been on the receiving end especially on that knee. Rabesque is going to have quite a task holding it on with that knee being what it is.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS IS TRYING TO GRIT HIS TEETH AND BARE THE PAIN BUT IT LOOKS IN A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN!

JONATHAN MARX: Troy is trying to encourage Sands to fight through it but it looks like Sands may not be able to escape this time.

VIC WATERS: FIGHT IT SANDS!

BRANDON JACOBS: LINDSAY TROY JUMPS UP ONTO THE RING APRON AND SHE IS CAUSING A COMMOTION!

JONATHAN MARX: I think she is trying to buy Sands some time to reverse the hold.

VIC WATERS: Troy would never do that, she is probably informing the ref on a missed call earlier.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS LOOKS LIKE HE IS READY TO TAP BUT THE REFEREE WON’T TURN AROUND! Rabesque is yelling at the referee…. WAIT A SECOND, SANDS WAS PLAYING POSSUM AND NOW HE IS TRYING TO REVERSE THE FIGURE FOUR ON RABESQUE!

JONATHAN MARX: Sands was using Troy as a distraction for Rabesque to keep his focus off the figure four and with that bad knee of his, he doesn’t have it on tight as he usually does so it worked.

VIC WATERS: I told you Lindsay was brilliant as she is beautiful.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS TURNS OVER THE FIGURE FOUR AND RABESQUE LOOKS LIKE HE IS GOING TO PASS A STONE HE IS IN SO MUCH PAIN!

VIC WATERS: He is at the right age for it.

JONATHAN MARX: It is that knee of his. He has to get to the ropes and fast.

BRANDON JACOBS: RABESQUE IS CRAWLING WITH ALL HIS MIGHT FOR THE ROPES AND HE IS PULLING SANDS WITH HIM….. RABESQUE REACHES OUT AND HE GRABS THE BOTTOM ROPE!

JONATHAN MARX: Thank god.

VIC WATERS: Sands almost had him with his own hold, it is only a matter of time now.

JONATHAN MARX: Both of these men are going to be on wobbly legs because the figure four was on both of them.

BRANDON JACOBS: Sands is the first one to stand and he is walking like he got shot in both legs.

JONATHAN MARX: That is what a figure four by Rabesque feels like, even when he doesn’t have it on full strength.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS WALKS OVER AND HE PICKS UP RABESQUE WHO IS HAVING TROUBLE EVEN SUPPORTING HIS OWN WEIGHT…

VIC WATERS: If Rabesque is having trouble, the ref may have to call for the bell on this one.

JONATHAN MARX: There is no quit in Rabesque.

BRANDON JACOBS: RABESQUE IS CLUTCHING THE TOP ROPE SO SANDS CAN’T BUDGE HIM… SANDS COMES UP FROM BEHIND AND HE IS TRYING TO TAKE HIM DOWN WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX BUT RABESQUE IS FIGHTING IT!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque is fighting for dear life in this match. He knows if Sands hits this, it will for all intensive purposes be over.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS IS USING ALL THE POWER HE HAS LEFT IN HIS LEG…. OH NO! Sands falls down and he is clutching his leg!

JONATHAN MARX: Sands was trying to do too much after that figure four and it was a case of the mind being stronger than his legs.

VIC WATERS: Sands has to get up before Rabesque can lock him in another figure four and finish this off.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque goes to pick up Sands…. SANDS GRABS THE HAIR AND HE INSIDE CRADLES THE BAD LEG OF RABESQUE!

JONATHAN MARX: Sands is trying to make an attempt to pull this out bad leg and all.

BRANDON JACOBS: The ref is caught off guard but he finally goes down for the count! 1----------------------------------------------------2--------------------------------------------- RABESQUE SHIFTS HIS WEIGHT AND NOW SANDS’ SHOULDERS ARE DOWN ON THE MAT! The ref counts again! 1-------------------------------------------------2------------------------------ SANDS KICKS OUT!

JONATHAN MARX: This crowd is on its feet for both men because they are going above and beyond the call of duty.

BRANDON JACOBS: Both men are down on the ground and Lindsay is screaming at Sands to get up before Rabesque can have a chance to regroup.

JONATHAN MARX: Both of these men need a couple of moments to rest so they can figure out a way to finish off each other and catch their breath.

BRANDON JACOBS: SANDS IS GETTING UP FIRST…. NOW RABESQUE IS TRYING TO GET BACK UP…. SANDS CHARGES RABESQUE AND HE IS GOING FOR A COBRA CLUTCH….. RABESQUE TAKES SANDS DOWN WITH A HIPTOSS!

VIC WATERS: No damn it!

JONATHAN MARX: Rabesque saw him coming out of the corner of his eye. He barely had time to react.

BRANDON JACOBS: WAIT A SECOND, SANDS GETS BACK UP AND RABESQUE KICKS HIM IN THE MIDSECTION! Rabesque hooks the worked over leg of Sands….. FISHERMAN SUPELX!

VIC WATERS: I can’t tell whether he has the fingers locked from this angle.

JONATHAN MARX: I think he does…. HE HAS IT!

BRANDON JACOBS: THE REF GOES DOWN TO MAKE THE COUNT! 1-------------------------------------------------2----------------------------------------------3! RABESQUE SQUEAKS OUT THE VICTORY!

RING ANNOUNCER: THE WINNER OF THE MATCH….. JEAN RABESQUE!

JONATHAN MARX: I can’t believe Rabesque pulled it off, so many times Rabesque was on the brink of being beaten, but he kept on fight and fight despite all of Sands’ abuse. I guess that is what makes Rabesque one of the all time greats. He ability to do the impossible.

VIC WATERS: Rabesque got lucky, but Sands will get his revenge.

BRANDON JACOBS: Rabesque sits down in the corner for a second to catch his breath and an irate Sands is getting up and he is arguing with the referee. The referee is telling him it was a clean three count.

VIC WATERS: These referee are so stupid that they can’t count to three without taking off their socks.

JONATHAN MARX: I thought it was a fair count myself.

BRANDON JACOBS: Folks, we have to take a commercial break, but when we comeback, it is time for the BAD Christmas Tree Lot Battle Royal….. STAY TUNED EVERYONE!
