Ever since the THUNDERDOME tournament that I ran over at EWN a couple of years ago, to decide who would be in the first edition of, my column The Mark's, special feature 'VS' (fantasy booking, KSZ vs. KVC was the final, KVC won after a 32-man tourny) I've been playing with how I would do the second go-around for 'VS' while not only including the EWN community again, but FW and PTC as well. You know, keep making the eW/FW world smaller.

I mean I really like how the feature turned out originally, and now March Madness has got me in the mood for a big big tournament, and the return of the second feature of The Mark's 'VS'. It'll be a 64-man field. Though more about this 'fan-fuelled tournament' will be revealed in time, as each leg is finished and we move on to the next round. Which brings me to the FW section of things, and why I created this thread. FW has had a large number of great characters pass through it's network through the years... and a large number of years it's been and also a great variety of fantastic characters, so I want all those interested to make nominations for there favourite FW wrestlers of all-time (or currently, whatever) to be in Russel David's The Mark 'VS' Tournament. Here are the few guidelines you have to follow, and after that the sky is the limit...

one] you can make up to three nominations, but don't feel like you need to. Just making one or two is fine. However nominations you make, you can also rank, though that's not necessary. However that will mean something, as each unranked nomination garners two points. A number one rank garners three points, two points for number two, and one point for number three. Tie votes split the points, just so you know.

two] the character can be alive or dead, active or inactive, just as long as it's an FW character.

three] the character has to have been active in a fed that was at that time an FW inter-fed member. If you want to nominate a character(s) who has solely been in a PTC fed or an angle or RP fed other-wise outside of the FW and PTC communities, please nominate them in a thread similar to this one on the PTC or EWN boards. PTC Central and EWN. Feel free to nominate eW/FW characters at all three forums as well, following the guidelines set at each.

four] no nominating your own character.

five] no nominating Kodiak Vic Creed or Keith Scott Zimmerman, though KSZ might not have ever wrestling in an FW fed, hey... though if he has... don't. I know it's blasphemy BUT they've already got there time in the 'VS' sun, looking all comic'd out.

Nominate for your favourite, whatever that entails. And if you think other people need convincing, give them a reason why you nominated who you nominated, create discussion.

'VS' nominations will be open until April 3rd, 2006, when the next step in the tournament will then start. Until then please also ask any questions you might have.

Later days,
Russ

1. Jonathon Marx - Marx is a really good old school heel and Miller, when prodded enough to do RPs, is a solid writer. He was recently a top contender for the DCW's highest honour, the Delaware Championship, in the league over on ENN.

2. Spider Murphy - DCW's (former?) Delaware Champion. Funny and entertaining. A solid character. Scott always comes up with something good and if Showtime would have been active around here or ENN recently, then he'd be getting a nomination as well.

3. Three has got to be a tie between Mike Evers and S. S is just a fantastic character from a master at making fantastic, mysterious, dark characters: Andrew Medina. Andrew has handled Suicide, CCI, and my personal favourite, SPECTRE!!!! Spectre was a big influence on my Risk character three or four years ago, but he's not active right now and not up for nomination so...

And Mike Evers, there's just something about that guy. It's probably got a lot to do with the interaction he had with his manager and how he did a really good job of playing a kissup, ladder climbing face.

Almost made it:

Dark Ninja - Always hilarious to read his RPs.

Red Leaf - Big Red has the mentality of a nine year old and is absolutely lovable for it, much like Eugene from WW"e" but long before Eugene started.

Irish Red - He's Irish.

Michael Manson - Come on. It's MICHAEL MANSON!

Larry Tact - My former tag team partner as the Five Star Tag Team before FW Central switched domains. Jeff still writes great roleplays when he has internet access, as is evidenced by the So Cal Rumble or whatever it was in WFW before the Superbowl of Wrestling.

So I had planned to close up nominations on April 3rd, but due to the nice response in the first week, and the fact that noms have slowed to a halt in the last few days, I'm going to close up nominations on March 27th, tomorrow.

All in all, I want to keep the momentum going with the The Mark's 'VS' TOURNAMENT.

Now, to explain a few things in the last day of nominations, before the bracket seeding begins on Monday.

The way the points, that have been added up with each nomination, work is that the points leader gets an automatic number one seed in there respective bracket. I'll tell you who that is for this bracket, tomorrow, after nominations close, but if you want to find out yourself before hand... it isn't incredibly difficult. ;)

Then SEEDING begins. All other wrestlers who have recieved nominations are then randomly drawn into three groups and voted on en mass, with the top 15 vote getters overall then being seeded 2-16. If that last bit sounds confusing, seeing it in action on Monday should hopefully clear up any further questions.

So yep, the nomination period is NOW ending March 27th. Tomorrow.
