"Showtime" Steven James vs. John Skieler

This Is Real

We fade in to find the mountain of a man known as John Skieler seated in a folding chair backstage at a GLCW event. His face is hidden, both by his long, stringy hair and a white towell that is draped over his head. He's wearing his ring attire: black tights, black boots. There's a cast on one arm, heavily taped up. He's covered with sweat, and you know he's just come from a match down the hall.

JOHN SKIELER: I suppose this is where I'm supposed to start jawing about how I'm the greatest wrestler in the world, blah, blah, blah...None of that talk really matters anyways. What really matters is how you get it done in the ring. What really matters is your skill, and your strength, and your power...Steven James. "Showtime"...."Showtime". As if it's some kind of game. As if it's all for fun when you step through the ropes and stare across the mat at some other guy, and you know, you just know, that only one of you is getting his hand raised at the end. A game? It isn't a game. Not by a long shot. When you're living your life based on how many men you can put away, it's not a game. It's survival. James, I'm not out here to have fun. I'm here to make a name for myself, and where I come from, a name you can respect is the greatest thing a man can have. I ain't going nowhere by taking out a little no-name like you. A man who can beat a rookie hasn't got any kind of claim to fame. But you ain't just a rookie. You've been tagged an "up-and-comer", and you need to be taught a lesson, son. I know you're young, and you're hungry, and all that crap. But you need to realize that while you think you've wanted a reputation all your life, I've wanted it all of mine, and I've actually tasted it. Where I was before, I was the top dog. I was the man to beat. And here? I'm wrestling kids like you. You've gotta get it pounded into your skull that while you may want to win a lot, I want it too, and I've got the power to make sure that I get what I want. It's not fun and games anymore, James. It's real. It's time you learned what this sport is all about.

Fade to slow black as the shot gets tighter and tighter on his concealed face.

As Real as it Gets

Fade in to Showtime Steven James standing in the arena where the next show will take place. There are workers putting everything together in the background, next to James is Lady Veronica, she begins the interview.

Lady V: Ladies and gentlemen i'm here with Showtime Steven James to get his thoughts on his next match against John Skieler, however, Steven, before we get into that i was wondering why you requested my presence, it's not that i mind, it's just that normally you do your own promos and don't ask for an interviewer.

SJ: That's a very good question Veronica, you see the answer is simple and that is i haven't completely been myself. You see i came here to the GLCW to turn heads, however the only time heads turn is to look away. I would come out here and begin every interview by saying "it's time, it's time, ooowww baby it's time", and then they would end with "lights, camera, action." Listen, i know that i'm talented, i know that my athleticism speaks for itself, and i know that my track record so far is pretty admirable but still i felt that i needed those silly catchphrases to make a point like i was in a movie or something. And you know what? It would have continued that way if it wasn't for a good friend of mine calling me up and saying "Steve! What the hell are you trying to prove? You're trying to look cool but you look like a jackass! This isn't a cartoon, either you get real or get out!" And you know what? That good friend was right. Now, don't get me wrong, i'm still that fun loving, smart allick talking guy from Little Rhodie, but from now on it's gonna be real, it's gonna be me.

Lady V: Well i'm glad to see that you've recommitted yourself to this sport however one person that i know for a fact that won't be impressed or intimidated is John Skieler. What are your thoughts on that?

SJ: Well you see it's simple, John Skieler wants to get back what he had. He wants to reach that mountain top once again, but Skieler make no mistake about it, before you reach for that mountain top, before you get a bite of what you've tasted before, you have to go through me. And maybe you're right, i'm nobody as of right now. I'm not that well known, and i'm still a rookie. However you better be careful of what you are right on the money about and that is i AM young and i AM hungry, and you can bet your @$$ i'm coming to that ring to take care of business and by that i mean take care of you and I will be one step further to reaching that mountain top that you are trying to reach yourself. And even though i'm not some movie director, or whatever the hell it was i was trying to be, i WILL step through those curtains, there WILL be a spotlight, and the crowd WILL rise to it's feet, but the difference is you are facing a refocused Showtime Steven James and whether that impresses you, intimidates you, or you're not even gonna care one bit, i don't care. So just show up and lets see what happens.

Lady V: Well...thank you Steven James...uumm, before you go i just have to ask, do u still want to be called Showtime?

SJ: Well, you can call me anytime.

Lady V: smiling Some things never change.

Last thing seen is both of them smiling before fading out
