FADE IN...
Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya
Here where we need ya
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back...
As the theme to "Welcome Back, Kotter" fades, we see Troy Douglas, back for the first time in a LONG time in front of an EPW backdrop. The normally intense, laser-focused Douglas is there, but much of that stoic demeanor is gone for the moment, hidden by a smile a mile wide.
DOUGLAS: Missed me, huh?
I'll admit, I didn't leave here on the best of terms twelve months ago. Alot of people questioned my commitment to this company, and rightly so. To say I had a few issues at the time would be a massive understatement. But, what I've been through, how I've changed this past year, that's not of any importance right now.
I've been fortunate enough not to burn too many bridges in my career, and I'm glad to say that, despite some of my past issues, I've been welcomed back to the place I'm proud to call my professional home with open arms. I can't be thankful enough for that. Which is why I am absolutely rife with anticipation for my shot to finally, after all this time, lace up the boots, step between the ropes, and get back in an EPW ring.
And at Onslaught, I finally get my chance to do that against a young man by the name of Lane Stone.
A young man whose about to have the worst day of his young life.
Because I may be all smiles and sunshine right now, but when I'm between those ropes and that bell rings, all the excitemen I'm feeling right now gets channeled into straightforward, focused aggression. I'll come straight at you, Stoney, and I won't stop into your down for the three count. Then, I'll pull you up and send you straight on your way, just like I've done to many, many men before you, most of them, I'm sure, being far more qualified to be inside that squared circle than you are.
They say, Lane, that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. Well, call me a lucky, lucky man, because at Onslaught, that's exactly what I've been given. I've got my second chance, and if you don't think I won't make the absolute most of it, you're living on another freaking plane of existence.
I don't care how much of a young hotshot you claim to be, I don't care how talented or exciting or watchable you are. Right now, I don't know you from Adam, and I couldn't care less. Your just a body, Lane, a nameless, faceless opponent who I will not hesitate to steamroll and send packing.
Because I'm not making any mistakes this time. No fooling around, no hesitation. Just getting in that ring and doing what I do best.
So let's begin.
Troy walks out of frame as the instrumental version of "Welcome Back" kicks in before we...
