Comments feedback and reaction goes here.

We continue to ROLL and TUMBLE down the ROAD TO RANDOM RUMBLE!

Look for a special PRESS CONFERENCE WITH PRESIDENT EDDIE MAYFIELD tomorrow morning (or maybe tonight, we'll see - but we'll make sure to tell the NECKBEARD dirt sheet writers an hour later so they don't eat the catering spread)

Thanks for all the segwriters and NFW WRITERS ROOM for making this happen! I continue to strive to get these shows out quicker with that NFW STAR OF APPROVAL that you all look for - so let's keep it moving!

Two things to note before more feedback later - 1. Whoever came up with that entrance for the Graverobbers - nice job, the deathmasks do change with regards who any of the 3 are facing would be the only note to give going forward but that match gave me flashbacks to ECW so *applauds*.

2. THAT twist re the Harmen ceremony... did not see that coming and it'll be very interesting to see where it goes..

Thanks that was me. I didn't give them Deathmasks (as i wanted to get over their real faces) but think the fans would be catching up to them by now and making/buying NFW deathmasks!

Thanks. MORE FEEDBACK!

Welcome to the Show! -- KILLED IT. Really dug O’CONNOR’s V/O and the highlight packages. Glad to see Stone Foxes back in the fold! I hate giving these such an “as expected” review because they’re ridiculously great - pretty much ROLL any other attempt at a show opener that I’ve ever seen.

LANGSTON/KUROYAMA -- Quick match, but it did have a rapid-fire style pace … I think both characters came off looking good - LANGSTON really being sold on athleticism/speed and KUROYAMA on his wrestling proficiency. I like both these characters.

STRIFE/AUSTIN -- Not really a match, but WHO CARES. CASTOR STRYFE is moving up my “Hey, This Guy Rules” list fast and in a hurry. Him MURDERSTOMPING AUSTIN and SEVEN has to perk STRIFE up a bit at this point. He’s a wrecking machine … very Bane-like and that’s a great impression IMO.

STRATTON/HOSHI -- This is the match I was looking forward to most and it did not disappoint. I loved them fighting out in the crowd and that Moonsault spot was great. Cool to see WildStar and both the juniors (UWA!). Awesome back and forth - a lot of close calls. You had the feeling that Akita would lose, but how it happened leaves a lot of story to be told. GREAT JOB.

Oh … that announcer dialogue was stellar.

H’WOOD: “His face just powerslid into CANDYLAND …”

That’s LINE OF THE YEAR.

Bowser Ain’t Got (BLEEP!) On This Guy. -- I liked OCHO’S promo portion. He’s a great babyface - acts like one, speaks like one. I didn’t totally love how the feud pushed forward … maybe would have had TEDDY hunting OCHO for another show (or two) before OCHO had his epiphany. Either way, I’m still excited to see where this feud goes. Top notch characters, writers, and dudes in general.

GRAVEROBBERS/DONE DID IT, INC. -- Yeah, that was a SWEET ENTRANCE. I dug the new JB get-up and that’ll definitely get some mileage. Happy to SEE a bit more of the Graverobbers - those two guys need to get fleshed out. It’s sort of been a LEGION and two big dudes feel for me. This is a good start toward fixing that. As far as the match - TORNADO. A TON of good spots in this one … having LEGION and SHANIQUA out there only makes it more chaotic. JB got a bit of momentum, but obviously was on the losing end again. Solidifies the Graverobbers as a LEGIT threat.

… how bad is SHANIQUA hurt?
… what’s w/ JB walking away from it all?

Questions that will be answered (I will have a FILM up tomorrow or the next).

NFW World Title Coronation -- Ha, so awesome. A lot of little things that made this a solid celebration/coronation. The NOVA bit was unexpected and tremendous. CALVIN CARLTON coming down makes so much sense … and is going to make for a great story. CALVIN needed a story, needed to get going, and being w/ the World Champion, who he screwed out of his title is GOLD. (Get it?) Can’t wait to read more from the HARMEN/CALVIN duo - rockin’. I was happy to see JACK BRYANT coming out, spittin’, and stompin’ - that’s how I’d expect him to act. Gives HARMEN a bit of payback with that HORSE COLLAR DRIVER, too! I like that DORCHESTER is using a Headlock Driver … JB is using a SNAPMARE DRIVER. That’s going to be in play one of these days.

I almost forgot - JACK HARMEN HAS CANCER. Wait - what? CUE UP: Intrigue! Things got a whole lot more interesting! Harmen/Bryant is going to be a lot of fun.

FORD - LET’S BURN THIS BITCH TO THE GROUND!

But wait, there’s more!

Scorched Earth -- Crank that right up to ELEVEN. STRYFE burns STRIFE’s studio to the ground! I’m just going to say it … I’m rooting for STRYFE over STRIFE. Ford, it looks like we’re too late to burn anything to the ground, but we can probably spike the punch or something.

GENERAL NOTE:

I’m pumped about this ROAD TO RANDOM RUMBLE. Let’s get after it!

I think this is one of the best cards, or at least one of the best Reloadeds, we've ever put out. "You're just saying that because you ran a big angle on it!" SHUTUP THAT'S NOT WHY! I'll get to that in a second but first...

I was too busy/lazy to leave feedback for Reloaded 18, so I want to quickly say that I thought that was a very strong card too. But more importantly, I need to congratulate Tom Ford on winning the NFW World Title. I've been secretly rooting for this to happen for a long time, and I marked out pretty hard when it did. Flyer/Harmen is already a legend in a few other places, but he's been quietly anchoring this fed for a long time now. Now he gets his proper due, and it's not even like this was a "it's his turn" kind of thing. Harmen has brought it up another level since I dunno, 2011/2012ish? I thought he did an amazing job in the Ultratitle Final Four, and in NFW since changing over to "Harmen" he's been electric. Flyer/Harmen angles helped build the National Title and rebuild the EMTs, and now his biggest, craziest angle has just been revealed for the World Title. This is A LOT of dicksucking, but it's well deserved goddamn it. Flyer/Harmen is easily a top 5 all-time NFW character for me. Biron did a great job in that thread, and I think it's safe to say that Jack Bryant will get his hands on the belt one day, but I am glad that Harmen had his day because who knows (especially now!) how much longer than character will be around for.

NOW FOR RELOADED 19...

The thing I like about this card, that runs in contrast to some of the times where Reloaded, Brawl, or Crash disappointed me, is it progressed all the major fed storylines, and did so significantly. That is really the purpose of a show, right? When you're watching a TV series, don't you like walking away thinking, "Wow, that episode did not waste time. Everything moved, and now I'm excited for the next one," as opposed to "Jesus fucking Christ, they wasted 20 mins on that bullshit while I was really waiting to find out ABC..."

So each angle on this card not only moved the ball down field, but made a significant 50-yard pass completion.

-Ocho/Alexander has now been kicked into high gear, and the champ has a real threat in front of him after a solid, hard-fought win over Alex Austin. This has potential to be the feud that defines the Triple Crown title for many years...

-Dorchester is starting to hit his stride as TV champion, and by retiring Akita Hoshi he has now retired BOTH members of Dawn of a New Day - Wildstar being the other. I think this is the first time since his run at the World Title (when he crippled JTP and fought a classic against Castor in the Final Four) that I've felt like Dorchester is truly dangerous again. Some other guys were overshadowing him, but I think he's regained his status as one of the most dangerous guys in NFW.

-The Graverobbers are also hitting their stride, and there is now a sense that they are becoming a dominant force. Who can beat them right now? In a weird way, they remind me of NFW 1.0 legends HELLMACHINE. Except with a dark, Satanic twist. They're like something that would have been aligned with Michael Manson back in the day. Legion has found his calling.

-Kuroyama vs. Langston - I was already familiar with KK, and was very happy to see Strawsma join NFW. Langston is a character I'm interested in, and knowing that the handler is top notch (he's been great in DEF and EPW with other characters like Christian Light), we can expect to see good things with Langston. I think Kuroyama going over in a tough match was a good call, cause I see KK as someone who can jump right in with some of the more established characters. On the other hand, I like seeing how new characters deal with adversity early on, so I think a loss in that respect is actually a good character building moment, potentially, for Langston.

-WORLD TITLE CORONATION - This was so unpredictable, and in a good way. So Harmen comes out and fucks with the crowd, that was to be expected. The Nova shows up! I'm already marking out because I'm thinking, "OH SHIT! Nova vs. Harmen for the title! Nova's going to read him the riot act!" But no. Nova didn't do that. He just wanted to congratulate his friend. That's not the usual wrestling angle formula, what the fuck? Wait, HARMEN HAS CANCER AND SIX MONTHS TO LIVE? That is definitely not the typical formula. This has actually never been done with a World Title before, to my knowledge. Harmen has a countdown to self-destruction, and the top challengers have to get there before he implodes. Is this real, or a mind game? Is he actually dying? I think that's one big aspect to all of this, and a fair question to ask. This is one of the most interesting angles ever run with the World Title.

STRIFE/STRYFE - as always, I'd rather hear your feedback on my stuff than comment on it myself. I'll just say that my intention was to kick the whole thing in high gear, and really establish the threat of Stryfe with a swerve and a major move that nobody saw coming. Biron's reaction was what I was going for. It wouldn't have made sense for Castor to just sell Stryfe as a threat for no reason other than the impersonation gimmick. There needed to be something more, and now Castor has no choice but to pay attention. Stryfe is now his #1 priority, and we'll see how Castor responds. Unless there is more to come Stryfe before he even has a chance...

With two Brawls on the horizon, we have significant momentum heading into Reloaded XX and of course, Random Rumble. The show intro and all the "sewing" was spot-on, held everything together really well. Honestly, with all that was going in terms of angles, it was very important that the compilers (JN, Katz...Biron?) put all the material in an order that made sense, and they hit it out of the park.

Let me just reiterate what Billy said... that I'm awesome.

No, I meant that YOU guys are awesome. This card was stitched together in such a fluid way that it felt like a true "Go Home" show, even though it was all SET UP. Stories progressed, everyone who was on the show had a role and they fulfilled it wonderfully. Nothing TRULY felt rushed.

Sorry for the delay, I traveled home for the holidays and then was so sick I slept 36 hours in 2 days.

NOW!

Intro, as always, spot on. Nothing more I can say except you guys always pull out all the stops, and our intros make each show feel so distinct. I think that I can look at just about any intro we've done in the past (and the future), and determine exactly where in the timeline of the federation that show is, just by the intro. That's the sign of great work, and it's a recurring motif we've done and always have done better than any other fed I've been apart of. Layered and intricate, woven like a tapestry that Legion wants to set ablaze. Why do you think i keep coming back here? Cause I have a title? Fuck that noise. I come here to see what sort of crazy shit I get to do in the intro. Whether it's playing air guitar / back up vocals to Facey at Supercrash II to crowd surfing with Nova at Brawlapalooza, there's ALWAYS something for EVERYBODY in these intros.

Kuroyama vs. Langston - I think Langston got some great licks in and probably got more offense, so while Kerry won, I think both guys stars shined bright. It'll be interesting to see once these two get more ingratiated into New Frontier, interacting with some of the more stalwart characters in the promotion. Either way, I wouldn't mind seeing the two of these have a nice best of five series with a shot at say, Dorchester at the end of it. Well written match that put both guys over.

Caster vs. Austin - Less of a match and more of a clusterfuck. I think Legion would be proud ;-). I was slightly disappointed to not see Castor in the ring. When was the last time he was in actual action? But I understand, it's a bit too early to pay off Austin / Castor, and this kind of redirects the focus of the feud between Cas / Cas, especially with the segment at the end. Anytime you have a referee (in this case Seven) shouting "HEY SHITHEAD! THAT'S ILLEGAL!" well, that's gonna put a smile on my face. Plus who isn't a fan of the Spike Dudley being tossed by Bam Bam Bigelow into the fifth row spot? MONEY. I think we should have an NFW Olympics show and see who can throw who the furthest into the crowd for our "javelin" competition. Really puts over Stryfe as a dick / monster, so it'll be nice to see the pay off, whenever we get the chance. I hope the next Reloaded, at least by then, Castor gets some sort of payback, even if it's not to the degree we wish.

Stratton vs. Akita - I know we sometimes complained about the over use / abuse of the Hellfire Club, but in all earnest, I don't think Dorchester ever fit that bill. This match was truly epic. This entire show felt like something out of late 90s ECW, which makes me cream my pants like late 90s me looking at faked naked pictures of Sunny on the internet. I love how the match ended too, Dorchester weaseling his way out with the help of Veronica after a truly epic war. My GOD NFW Insurance rates must be through the roof. How many dentist bills are we going to get? I've seen chairs thrown into the ring, never thrown into the crowd! Great way to recap the feud / history between these two too. Really helped set the importance of this match in Dorchester's career. I'm disappointed Akita is "gone," but I'm sure, like Wildstar, he'll be around in SOME capacity in the future. Plus, it sets up his younglings for vengeance. The match ended very organically and perfectly though. Match of the night without a doubt. Best match I've read in a while, not involving my own characters (What can I say? I'm a Homer for Reloaded 18's main event).

Ocho / Alexander - I love that Ocho is trying to talk a monster down. I love how this feud has ramped up to 11 because Teddy is so no-nonsense, but Ocho is so lovable and amicable. Ocho is the ONLY true face NFW has left, and that sets his character apart from everyone else in the fed. The scrappy plucky champion facing the roided out psycho Teddy leaves me salivating as a fan.

Robbers/DDI - Solid match that solidifies Bryant's separation from DDI while also putting over the Graverobbers further. I really like what Legion has done, he's turned Bandit and Devastor, two somewhat perennial jobber characters, into serious monsters / threats. NFW has a great way of reinventing characters, and this gimmick is more proof of that. Only complaint about the match was that all of the action was told in the guise of commentary, whereas the rest of the show didn't have that crutch. It's a very minor complaint, and I only noticed it while going back over the match in question for this review.

Coronation - I'm awesome, but only because Jamar / Katz are awesomer. Thank you for turning my pile of random excrement into sanctimonious gold. I loved every minute of this segment. What you did with the idea I had for Nova was genius. My execution of Nova was lack luster, but you really brought it to 11, just like everything else you touch.

It feels like I either have a shitty idea and you make it better, or I have a great idea and you have a better execution. I owe my character's story and NFW career to you guys. Dunno if I'd still be here kicking if you guys weren't so hands on / awesome / understanding with how my character works. Which is hard, because he's crazy and his desires change on a whim. Thank you again.

Castor Productions is on FIYAH! - Castor has had his production company targeted before, but never to the point of embers. And of course you don't breathe fire at a dragon, you breathe ice! Everyone knows this, except Stryfe, eh? :) Still not entirely sure who Stryfe is, I have ideas, but I don't think it's the most obvious as I thought before. Either way, it's about time Castor StrIfe gets into the game with some violence, and I can't wait to see it.

All in all, great show. Like Billy said, this show moved like a good episode of the Wire or Breaking Bad, and didn't waste time with melodrama like 90% of the Walking Dead. Can't wait till the next one.

Guess I better get around to feeding back on this one...

- INTRO: Dig the intro (dig every intro, to be perfectly honest), but this one was sold well with Stryfe cutting into the highlight package as an interruption. Along with the closing segment, I thought this rivalry did a nice job of bookending the show.

- KUROYAMA VS. LANGSTON: Really good match between Kuroyama and Langston. Definitely got a sense of the competitiveness here, and I thought both guys had their strengths shine through. Ending really felt like it could have gone either way there in the end. The match served its purpose in showcasing two new talents, and they both came out glowing.

- STRYFE VS. ARIES: A well-executed squash performance. Stryfe continues to look like a master manipulator, not to mention an absolute offensive powerhouse. Austin has a bad night, but it's not entirely believable considering he was expecting another opponent. Once again, this match effectively served its purpose, pushing along the Strife/Stryfe conflict.

- STRATTON VS. AKITA: This was the match-of-the-night, in my opinion. Really high emotions, and non-stop action. It was nice to get the spot-fest out of the way for the first half in the brawl through the crowd, showcasing Akita, while Stratton brings it back in his control once the match proper got started. Stratton looks good with the win, retaining the belt and sending a dangerous rival out of the company. But the references to sons makes me think Hoshi's legacy isn't quite finished, and that was a nice touch.

- LDO/ALEXANDER SEGMENT: This was a good next stepping stone for this feud, with both guys' personalities coming out well. It's an interesting dynamic, how LDO is trying to act reasonable and talk it through, but Teddy's only real language is through violent action. Alexander's mean-streak effectively threatens Ocho's reign as champion, which gives the Triple Crown match-up an added layer of interest.

- GRAVEROBBERS VS. DONE DID IT, INC.: A really good final match of the night, although it went rather similar to the previous match with both beginning with out-of-control brawls, with a lot of outside interference thrown in there to boot. What I definitely got out of this match were the levels of chaos brought on by the Black Market, particularly under Legion's leadership, and some tension between Anderson and Bryant. Bryant's frustration was evident here in this match, and I felt it played into the finish, though I wasn't quite clear on whether it was generated from friction within his own team or his short-coming at the previous Reloaded 19. My assumption was the latter, as it seemed to play into the following segment. Overall, though, good final match to cap off the show's action.

- HARMEN CORONATION: Powerful speech by Harmen... and I have to give all props to Ford for really knocking it out of the park on the dialogue. Not sure what to make of the final statement, or the truth surrounding it... but it's definitely an interesting wrinkle to the matter of his championship. Harmen is now fighting for the distinction of dying a champion; I think that only makes him that much more scary of an opponent, because that pretty much epitomizes the "nothing to lose" mentality. Bryant coming out at the end was a nice follow-up from the previous match, as well as the previous show, throwing that rivalry into the forefront.

- CASTOR SEGMENT: Really fitting final statement, that ties in nicely with Stryfe's opening remarks. Again, I like how this rivalry bookended the show... definitely conveyed the importance of their upcoming showdown.

Overall... yeah man, I can't really find much to complain about. The whole body of work is tied together pretty solid. Once again, I want to reiterate how easy it is for me to follow these storylines with the commentary bringing up backstory whenever they get a chance. For example, this was probably the first match I read involving Akita Hoshi, but the commentators really helped me to feel like I've known this character's legacy for years. I say that with an understanding that it's a really fine line to walk between keeping the audience informed and simply thumping out irrelevant facts that slow down the action rather than amplify it. So I give major props to the writers involved on this, for doing a great job while not overdoing it in the same respect. Really interesting storylines developing, and I feel compelled to follow all of them.
