Re: Before the Press
The Sylo press conference: 6:10AM EST.
A man in a nice three piece suit stood in front of a podium. His salt and pepper hair was perfectly placed and his steel grey eyes scanned the press in front of him. He straightened his tie before looking down at documents in front of him.
“Members of various press, thank you for coming. We’d like to thank ESEN and its subsidiary companies for broadcasting this press conference. We understand there is a lot going on in the wrestling world so we understand your time is precious. We will allow Mr. Sylo to speak and then follow with a brief Q&A which should conclude the conference. Also, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone coming so early. Without further delay, please welcome Sylo.” The gentleman stepped down as there was applause.
Sylo’s giant 7’0” frame took over standing high over the podium. He had no notes in front of him as he casually leaned one arm on the podium.
“So I suppose with everything going on we should get the ball rolling. First off, it sickens me that Marcus Davis had to send lackeys to do his own press conference. Secondly, it sickens me that Marcus Davis is too afraid to step into an octagon with me. He’d rather do this in a wrestling ring? Yeah, that’s smart, let’s do this in a wrestling ring, under a banner you carry, with your people. I issue a challenge and in response all I get is side stepping and counter offers.”
Sylo stopped a moment, cleared his throat, and continued.
“Simply put, Marcus Davis is a coward. Now, you can call that slander but I call it the truth. This started with Davis said my name, he said he’d love to face and defeat me, that’s not respect. It’s not respect wanting to defeat someone, that’s called furthering your career, and to do so you need well established legends to do so. I could speak on my legacy but we’d be here the rest of the week, what it boils down to is Marcus Davis wanted to face me for him, not out of respect, and if Marcus Davis was as smart as he claims he’d have known about what I do and how I go about things. Not only that, I’ve single-handedly brought more exposure to the UltraTitle, Marcus Davis, and various other projects. As far as Marcus’ counter offer? I suggest he sweeten the pot, otherwise, I view him as the over-hyped ***** he’s always been.” Sylo snarled a little on the last line.
“If Mr. Davis wants to face me and end this he’ll make it worth my time. It isn’t about money, it isn’t about press, it’s about two men who don’t like each other. Now, make me want to kick your teeth out in a public forum, my idea involved two men fighting out their problems like new age gladiators, all proceeds going to charity. Your counter offer is me taking a title I don’t care about in a federation I don’t care about and earning money that, I yet again, don’t care about. Questions?”
There was a clatter among the press. Sylo pointed to one of the gentleman in the third row.
“Yes, Robert Nix, WrestlingRing.com, if you two are to agree on terms, are you both contractually free to do so?”
“Personally, I can’t speak for Mr. Davis., as for myself I do have contracts in order that as of right now I cannot speak of. I can tell you that none of them keep me from seeking outside activities as long as it doesn’t interfere with anything I’m contractually obligated to fulfill.” Sylo looked to the next person.
“Yes, Sandy Kern, WrestlingInquire.com, would you be allowed to use the Sylo persona and Superbeast logo?” She asked, putting her pen closer to the paper.
“There is no such thing as the “Sylo persona”, what you see is what you get. As far as the Superbeast name and logo that belongs to me. I own the name and all intellectual property. So, no, I’ll be there as me.”
Another gentleman stood up.
“Yes, do you think we’ll see any legal ramifications from all of this? Also, does this take your focus away from the UltraTitle at all?”
Sylo took a drink of water before replacing the cap.
“As far as my camp goes? No. There will be no legal ramifications from my end. As far as focus, my focus is always on. I train every other day, 8 hours a day, the rest of the week is spent training in other aspects. When the bell rings my focus is where it belongs. I think I’ve proven that. In closing, if Marcus Davis wishes, I’m more than happy to sign an agreement for a sit down to negotiate. Otherwise, we can continue this merry-go-round. I got Davis’ attention, I got him worked up whether he’ll admit it or not, and now it’s time to move forward. Thank you for your time.”
Sylo stepped off the podium as everyone clamored for more questions. Sylo stepped off the stage and to the back, officially ending the press conference.
