Wrestler(s) Information

Ring Name: Mikey Unlikely
Height:5'11"
Weight: 225lbs.

Hailing From: "The Burbs"

Alignment:Heel

Gimmick: Mikey is a sellout! He was trained to be a wrestler and subsequently injured. During the rehabilitation of his injury, he began rapping as a way to pass the time. Eventually catching on to small record deal, Mikey had one hit that soared up the record charts.

Unlikely took that song to the moon and back. Finally when the 15 minutes of fame faded, he came back to his first love of wrestling.

Mikey will market himself by any means. Recently starring in supporting roles of Hollywood hits such The Wolfpack (A Hangover ripoff film). He was most recently cast as the new Mikey McFly,in the Back to the Future remake, Mikey is bigger than ever, and he won't let you forget it!

Wrestling Style: Mikey believes he is smarter than anyone he comes up against. The reality could not be further from the truth. His love of simple submission holds, is often his biggest downfall. If there is a camera pointed in the man's general direction, he will be sure to be in the center of it at all times. Although very quick and athletic, Mikey rarely moves about with much haste. In a former life he was a high flyer, but chooses not to give the fans what they want.

Three Weaknesses:
1. Emotional - Tends to get frustrated easily, especially anytime he is fooled.
2. Inexperience - Mikey has been wrestling on a truly professional level for only 2 years, after years of being on stage.
3. Distracted- Mikey loves attention, and will often leave the action if he can get it elsewhere.

Three Strengths:
1. Conditioning - Hollywood has high standards for movie roles, Mikey is in top shape.
2. Little Cheat - Mikey isn't the violent type. He's not one to set you on fire, hes more likely to poke your eyes, stomp your toes, pull on the rope for submission holds, he is willing to bend the rules just a little if it means success.
3. Submission - After spending a year of flying around, Unlikely has come to appreciate the mat side of wrestling, and enjoys keeping the pace slow, and deliberate.

MOVESET

Ten regular moveset moves:

1) Dropkick
2) Top wrist lock
3) Headlock
4) Top wrist lock with the opponent on the ground.
5) Hammerlock
6) Top rope top wrist lock
7) Snap suplex
8) Armbar with Top Wrist lock.
9) Crossbody
10) Replace top wrist lock, with headlock, hammerlock, spinning toe hold, etc.

2-5 trademark moves:

1) Fist drop
2) Second rope fist drop
3) Cloverleaf
4) Lungblower
5) Backbreaker.

1 Finishing Move: The Backstory (High Angled Boston Crab)

1 "MDK" (murderdeathkill) Finishing Move (Optional) "One Hit Wonder"
Former Finisher. Takes elbow pad off, from outside ring apron, springboards in with Flying Elbow smash to standing opponent .

A no from me too, the rp was meh, the character itself has nothing there to make it stand out.

I like the look of the character and has potential to be a lot of fun. Yes from me. Morbid curiosity, is there a reason you changed your mind on the app, Dan?

If it's a "no," can we at least give the dude some constructive feedback? I feel like a straight-up "no" is pretty useless, IMO. Let's at least give reasons, so he can think on 'em, tighten the app up a little, and come back with something "better"?

I'm aware that I'm new and not all that well integrated into the DEF community, so this might not mean much, but I'll strongly vouch for the guy. He knows how to tell convincing, episodic wrestling stories and while the character's simple, he's a very effective shitbastard heel.

Well I thought it over and I changed my mind. This place is packed with heels and I just don't see where this particular character fits. He's a good writer with both rps and matches from what little I know about him. I just gave it yes too quick, just on those credentials. App is too simplistic.

Having a character background that you had a big music hit, then are the new "Mikey McFly" in a Back to the Future remake is corny as shit to me.

That being said, I'd be inclined to vote yes on the recommendation of Lindsay, who I know has a low tolerance for nonsense.

I'm not in Defiance so I don't get to vote, but I'm an admin and therefore have an all access key and Mikey is equally effective as a cocky/confident babyface so there's tons of versatility depending on the story he wants to tell and what you guys have in mind.

I appreciate the yes from this vote, felt the need to explain a bit about the "cornyness". When I developed the Mikey character he was simply a rapper/wrestler. corny and awful on purpose... and that was as a face. Over the course of the last year plus in the UTA, the movie gimmick kinda fell in my lap. It was a write in (by the fedhead), for a break I took to take care of some RL stuff . Coming back I couldn't NOT incorporate that into the gimmick, so I ran with it and became a complete Hollywood shitbag. Maybe this helped, maybe it hurt me, idk, but its been a blast for me :)

All of what Brunk said is true.

I can see the DEFIANCE Faithful and the DEFIANTs themselves shitting on the character's credentials/background, but I'd be interested to see how Mike can put a different spin on the character here which is why I voted yes. Remember: DEF's not a "sports entertainment" type of fed (aka: what I consider the UTA to be)...it's wrestling first, wrestling foremost. Nobody's going to care what happens outside the Wrestle-Plex, or what fire fire 100 mixtape gets dropped.

Yes from me.

Mikey's a solid dude with a pretty complete grasp on his character.

That an he's equally good at face or heel, so there are future options.

Oh, and I'm the one who told him to talk to James about joining, so there's that.

Additionally, this would make Mikey the first guy Angus dislikes more than Dusty Griffith (not on the same scale as his hate for Curtis Penn and Jonny Booya which is more personal), because while he dislikes Dusty, he respects Dusty as an honest to god wrestler through and through.

There's a lot of John Cena potential here, only if the current Cena was a bit more heel about the reactions he gets.

For the record. Mikey only needs one more yay, without any further votes against. If I check this thread tomorrow and nobody else comments, I'll vote with the majority and Mikey gets his last vote.

I appreciate the further explanation. It helps a lot. I can envision it more than I could from the application alone.

Plus, two more super solid recommendations from Pete and Justin.

I'm a firm yes.
