Welp, feels like too long since I've done this. Not sure I'm the right one for it anymore, even...buuuut I'd like to ease myself back into writing regularly, I suppose, and I reckon it worked out alright the last time, so what the hell.

Hello, all! (Please don't judge too harshly. I'm the sensitive type...)

Handler Information

Name: Jay (or J, if it suits you...)
Email Address: madrawkus @ yahoo.com
Best Way to Contact You: Forum PM. Maybe e-mail. The rest? Probly not. (Also, it may take a day or three for me to respond. I'm forgetful these days.)
eWrestling Experience: Err...been awhile. I guess GCW?
How did you find DEFIANCE?: Drunken Googling, perhaps...
Are you willing to write matches?: Would rather not, but can in a pinch.

Writing Sample

This probably sums up best.

Wrestler Information

Ring Name: Lexi Thorpe
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 112

Hailing From: Huntington Beach, California
Theme Song: "Pedestrian at Best" by Courtney Barnett

Alignment: Face

Gimmick: Lexi Thorpe is determined. Determined to get out of the shadow of her ex-husband and make something of herself. Determined to prove to her daughter that she can do anything that she wants, be anyone she hopes to be, and that the world is not as dire a place as it seems to be. Determined to kick a few people's heads in, too. Probably that last one more than the rest, but it's not something she's ready to admit to.

Not yet, at least...

Wrestling Style:

Three Weaknesses:
1. Raw. She is extremely new at this and though training under her ex-husband and having worked around him, her experience actually grappling/fighting/participating in ring affairs is rather limited.
2. Outside influence. Her ex-husband made his name by being a brash, loud, vicious, borderline sociopathic galactic nightmare, and he was damn good at it. And though he has mellowed in his older years, in their bouts of training, his darker side surfaces more often than not, and his encouragement to follow his path to greatness by doing anything and everything to win can sometimes be overwhelming.
3. Naivety. In the past, she has been somewhat star struck by her fellow competitors. She's doing her best to avoid the same pitfalls, but sometimes you can't help but be in awe of the people you stand across from.

Three Strengths:
1. Speed. Her quickness is somewhat surprising, to the point where a match can potentially end in the blink of her eye. It also helps to be fast when you're not exactly sure what the hell you're fully doing just yet...
2. Virtue. Her desire to set an example for her young daughter and step out of the shadow of her ex-husband outshines the outside influence of the latter. Well, almost...
3. Tenacity/Passion. Her fire burns bright to outshine what her ex-hubby accomplished. She's willing to push harder, go farther, and do whatever it takes to win.

MOVESET

Ten regular moveset moves:

1) jumping DDT
2) Shining Wizard
3) superkick
4) Sling Blade
5) missile dropkick
6) small package
7) swinging Fisherman's neckbreaker
8) enziguri
9) dropkick to the knees/ankles
10) Various snapping kicks from various angles, generally in the bottom torso region (thigh, kneecap, calf, etc.)

Trademark moves:

1) Second City Air Raid (stolen from idol Vivica J. Valentine) - double rotation shooting star senton
2) System Crash (stolen from hero Tempest) - twisting headscissors takedown
3) The Vicious End (stolen from her ex-hubby) - straight-jacket chokehold

Finishing Move:

Flying Triangle Choke - stolen from her favorite of all time Karina Wolfenden, she uses a huricanrana to bring her opponent down first, and then locks in the triangle choke for maximum effect. (Rolls once submission locked in to weaken opponent are optional; in a pinch can be set up by Shining Wizard.)

I don't want to say yes or no at this time. However DEFIANCE is an angle federation and you will basically be required to write every single promo and or match that you are in. Whether it be by yourself or with the help of another. So that answer doesn't work here. Were you aware of the type of fed this was before applying?

Hmm. I reckon it's a matter of semantics, then. I meant it more in that I'd prefer not to end up responsible for, say, the lion's share of the writing of the card. I've no problem with what's needed of me, long as it's not a burden that sends me running off to the madhouse, if that makes sense.

Besides, I'm sure one or two folks 'round these parts can vouch for my skills from a previous life .

(Also, I hope I didn't post this multiple times and apologize if I did. My forum experience is mighty rusty...)

Spot on. You'll only ever be responsible for writing stuff involving your character, so no worries in that regard.

I remember you from GCW. How's my small primate son doing these days?

It's a good application. I obviously know what you can do from way back when, and I think I remember characterisation being one of your strongest traits. Thus, I think you'll do a good job in this environment, and I think the character can fill a big niche. We don't really have a pure underdog babyface now that Cayle has the big shiny belt, so Lexi fits. I can definitely see potential for the kind of story WWE ran with Bayley in NXT, where she'd continually take licks from nastier opponents with looser morals, but come back stronger each time, and eventually score the big win.

One note on size: we're not totally anal about it, but DEFIANCE definitely leans towards realism. 112lbs seems a tad undersized. Becky Lynch is the same height (5'6"), but is listed as 135lbs. Would you be open to packing some extra weight onto the character? Just so I'm convinced the poor lass won't be snapped like a twig whenever a larger opponent suplexes her, ha.

It's a yes vote from me, anyway.

My non-athletic manager character is 5'5" and weighs 108 lbs, so I'm with Murrr on this. If you send Lexi to the weight room and feed her protein shakes for a week or two to put some muscle on, it's a yes from me. I think for her height, 130 or so would be appropriately muscular without being bulky.

And you will never be required to write more than your own character's matches and segments. Anything additional would be because you volunteered to write an extra thing.

I like the character and the potential of the story with her and her husband. My only question was about the match writing; and it's been addressed. I agree with the weight deal. Beyond correcting that I'll say yes.

I will also give this app a yes. Solid character and I can see her being a good addition to the roster.

I greatly appreciate the understanding and feedback, and I admittedly agree that her weight is a bit...spurious, at best. But I counter my method in that she's a very, very green rookie, very new, and yet has to understand to add the bulk necessary to compete properly. And though that puts her at a disadvantage initially, I figured the "quickness" strength would cancel it out initially. Plus, the industry has had a...varied history of inflated numbers when it comes to weight. Heck, who doesn't like an underdog?

Long story short, extremely happy to be aboard! (Yeah, I say a lotta stupid stuff and can't shut up when I know better. Sorry!)

Also, less said about the primate, the better. Or is it...? (Yes, yes it is. He died. End of story.)

Well, you got enough YES votes so you're in. I've added you to the DEF booking forum; someone else who will likely not blow up the backstage can add you to the backstage.

I was on vacation this week so I never saw this, but as his former fedhead I'll give him a yes :) although, you need to think about making yourself available on Skype, I remember you being a really good handler who could be a tad difficult to contact sometimes when I needed you :p
