Reflection: Determination.....
[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-17-03 AT 02:00 AM (EST)]Fade in: to a cubic-shaped room inside an apartment. The room has some familiarity, as it was seen once previously. The wall opposite the door has various promotional ad posters, for wrestling as well as other product ads. The wall to the left has a trophy case pushed against it in its corner, although it isn't half filled yet. The right side wall has a few cabinets, one open and containing some video tapes stocked in it, although there is plenty of space left to be filled. The door side wall has a collection of pictures lined one next to another on the wall, taking up a section of it. Larry Tact sits on a stool in the center of the room, looking calm and facing the wall of pictures. He has on a sleeveless, blue leather zip-up shirt, black leather pants and boots. His bleach blonde hair comes down at earlobe-length, in spikes around his head, a few obscuring his olive green eyes as he looks at the camera.
Tact: As GLCW passes its first year of being in business, I offer my congratulations to Scott Malec. He has made plenty of decisions, some shrewd, others no-brainers, but all generally good for business. And that's what it comes down to, isn't it? Doing what's good for business. Even having King Krusher around as the 'safety patrol' has been good in some ways, none of which is security. (chuckles) But really, he has provided good incentive....I mean, people despise him, and I suppose that contributes towards getting people motivated around here. I personally think he's been somewhat of an annoyance, but....he's still around, so I suppose he must be doing something right. I guess keeping Lady Veronica safe goes a long way, doesn't it..?
Tact smirks.
Tact: However, business is moving and Malec keeps sending me checks -- and more importantly, giving me matches -- so I'll stick around. As I move into my seventh month in GLCW, I'll keep on doing what's best for my business...and that means keeping prepared and focused for matches. In Wisconsin Dells, I went and showed that I was more than prepared for Jarod Poe. I thought I'd remind him about the events of his match with Morgan for the TV belt, while I went out and gained my retribution. We're 1-1-1 now, Poe. And in Joliet, we'll get back in the ring and have that tag match. But after that, our little series will be put on hold...for the time being. I'm sure we'll pick it back up sometime, but for now, I'll do what I always do. That's set our series on the shelf, and move on to the next block. Win or lose, I can't dwell on any match result for too long. But I won't forget it, either. That wouldn't be very...tactful.
Tact grins wryly and then leans forward a little, propping his elbows on his knees and clasping his hands together.
Tact: From Joliet it'll be off to Champaign, and another Riptide event! Looking over the cards as I do, I've noticed this one is quite significant. Not only are we heading towards another Pay-Per-View, but we are in a new era of competitiveness. Yes, just as I've always spoken of, I see the improvements in GLCW. The Jobber, sluggish for a while...I even heard some rumors about his retiring. But he's shown every jack*** that thought he was 'losing it' how wrong they were. He has plenty more left in the tank, and it's good to see that, since he's putting on nice little clinics each week. It goes a long way, having some good wrestling shown from other people around here, let me tell you. But don't think of this as some sign of respect or praise...cuz it really isn't. It's just a nice lead-in, cuz Jobber recently showed some of that good wrestling to the person I happen to be facing at Riptide.
Tact sits back up and crosses his arms over his toned, sturdy frame, his expression one of mild curiosity.
Tact: I'll admit...I haven't heard all that much about you, Cameron. Sure, I know of your history in GLCW, and about your entering the new season in NFW for the Ultratitle. I know you're one of the younger guys with a foundation being built. (nods) You've got a future in you, no doubt about it. But Cameron, tell me this....when do you want that future to start? You can only have that foundation built up for so long before you look for more. You look with a hunger that you didn't previously know....a desire that just isn't satisfied with making it in and out of that ring. You start wanting to make an impact!
Tact cocks his head to the side, lips pursed.
Tact: So do you want that, Cameron..? Do you have the determination to take that step? Not everyone does. But...I can help you to make that choice. See, you're going to hit a fork in the road at Riptide...think of it as having reach a crossroads. At that time, you'll step into the ring with me. But, Cameron...(frowns)...I am not letting you start on the road upward at Riptide. Not in our match. Because I have a road to travel too, y'know. And, well...I'm no longer the type to let others pass through on my time. So there's good news and bad news, Cruise. The good news is, you're going to learn something from this match. You're going to learn how close you are to taking that next step, and find out just how determined you are. The bad news, though, is that it's going to be a painful...learning...experience. Cuz I don't hold back for anyone. I keep my performances top notch, and at this time I'm in prime form.
Tact stands up from the stool and walks over to the wall of pictures. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a thin piece of paper: a picture. Tact then presses it against the wall of photographs, sticking the newest picture on, then stepping back as he speaks, the camera capturing him from a side profile.
Tact: I'm going to put you to a test of your skills, Cameron Cruise. I know you've beaten such men as Jared Justice in the past, which means you do deserve to be here. But now you're going to find out what you need to be made of, to overcome someone with wrestling skills that are good enough to compete with those at the top, and still improving. I'll make sure it's a match you will find...memorable.
The camera heads around Tact and views the wall of photos, with many headshots of wrestlers from all around. The picture Tact posted up was one of Cameron Cruise, in a section of photos seemingly dedicated to wrestlers Tact has faced in GLCW thus far. After Tact turns around, seeing the camera is still filming, he raises his arm, making a slicing motion across his throat. Fade out.
