A Trek To Hell.......

Fadein:A lone street light sways side to side in a slight breeze. The camera slowly begins to decend from the height of the light. The sounds of the city can be heard, such as screeching cars, barking dogs, the overall hustle and bustle of the big city. The camera passes fire escapes, papers that sway in the breeze, and the hum of air conditioners sittng in the windows of the heat gripped city, as the camera desends quicker and quicker. The camera finally comes to an abrubt stop, and settles upon a figure sitting on top of a milk crate, that sits in front of a bunch of garbage cans over flowing with black and white bags. The figure dressed in oversized khaki cargo shorts, a sleeveless hooded black sweatshirt, with the hood pulled up coving the figures face, and a black sneakers. His arms are adorn with tattoos,as he sits with his head down and his arms dangling at his side, and he taps his right foot to some sort of beat.

Figure:Sunday.......July.......Twenty-Nineth.....the year Two Thousand and Two. It marks a new begining on many, many fronts, for many different people! Scott Malec, ventures out on his own, breaks away from what he knows, and tries to change what SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT is! Then you have the proven, big game players in this business, who need for awhile to carry this company on there backs, and bring in the fans, then they need to realize they have to step aside when there spotlight burns out! Golem, and Troy Martinez, the MAIN EVENTERS in our very first show. The two guys who, if the rest of the show is sub-par, need to tear the house down to make them come back! Thats alot of pressure gentlemen, a whole lot of pressure! And then you have the rest of us, all with different claims, different BIG DEALS on our resumes! But in the grand schemes of things, what does it matter?

(The figure, stands up, and jerks his head back, flipping his hood. He reveals a face, with scares, and piercings. He reveals hair with colors of craziness. He stares at camera, and then shakes his hair out wildly, and while inhaling and exhaling with vigor)

Figure:As I look up and down the talent roster, that Scott Malec have put toghther! You have guys from all walks of life, all coners of the globe, all claiming to be the greatest wrestler to lace up a pair of boots, and all before they have wrestled a match! Man, if thats not a recipe for disaster! Big shots, with big mouths! Now, everyone is saying to themselves what is this guys deal? In due time, as the process of human evolution in this business plays out, as the meek are eliminated, and the strong rise to levels rivaled by few, people will realize why I am THE LOST CAUSE!

Jobber, deep yet shallow, crazy yet, brilliant! So many differences, yet there all the same. Sir, depths of a person are so many times measured only skin deep! And most times the measurements are really miscalculated! So judge me by my looks, by my words, but fear my movements, and fear my beliefs!!!!!!!!

(Cue up "Sittin On Top of the World" by the Toasters.)

(Fade into the living room of the Jobber's Whitelandia compound. He sits upon a patterned couch, the pattern fairly dated. The Jobber sits on this couch in a black shirt and tan shorts, leaning foward slightly, looking at his right hand for a moment, then into the camera.)

The Jobber: Come in, Come in and shut the door. "Lost Cause" Chris O'Neill, a name that doesn't ring any bells inside my head, but from your introduction I take it that this name shouldn't. You fashion yourself something of an enigma. I say come in, come in and let yourself be known. "Lost Cause" it would seem that one of these causes that is lost is that of scientific understanding. Human Evolution plays little part in this world around it, no one in the GLCW will sprout a third arm or grow to heights never before seen to capture victory. There will only be the testing of honed abilities, those who are young and stupid, and thoe who have been around the block and know what it is to reach the top of the mountain. Some will have reached it only to have slipped too soon. Others have stayed there and know how to remain. And others... others simply looked up and watched others reach heights slightly, or greatly above their own, and see only how others have driven along their road to the top.

Your words mystify me "Lost Cause". You say that when is all said and done we will all see why you are the "Lost Cause". This only implies a lack of confidence in your own abilities. The obvious joke will not be made, not by me at least. I'm sure someone will come along and declare themselves the reigning king of wit by making it, but I do not desire to do so. I only desire to delve deeper into who exactly you are, and why you have such amazingly incorrect ideas about the world around you. Why do you speak only to ask more questions? Why do you seem to imply one thing, but never follow it up long enough to make a point? First you state that those around you in the GLCW are quite an amazing bunch. That many of them have been at the top of the sport, and seek to return to this level. Then you mention the main eventers of the first show Golem and Troy Martinez. I hope you do not mean to imply that these two men are grapplers who at any time were at the top of the sport. On one hand we have Golem, a serial screw up if I have ever seen one. No one at this event has blown as many chances to reach the top than Golem. It would seem Golem is being given one more chance to reach this peak, and it begins against Troy Martinez? Someone who has never done anything to distinguish himself in this sport, beyond staying around long past his welcome. If these two men impress you Chris, I must wonder where your head is. You then ask what does the past matter? It matters a great deal. Let us throw aside any ideas that the past will repeat itself, because I for one do not seek to reach the top only to have the entire mountain dissapear before anything can be done with my position. To be at the top, then pushed back to only striking distance of the top, then to be at the top of nothing is not what I plan to do. But the past never repeats itself. It may set up the future, but never will the past be our future. David Hume knew it in the 18th century, so let us just accept it in this day. The entire reason that our pasts have some importance is the entire nature of the sport. You cannot be a wrestler, one of any merit that is and make many mistakes. One's past in the sport is the only thing that can guide him so he doesn't make these mistakes. Some continue to make them and of course don't go much farther past where they began. I've already brought up two cases of this, so let's not go over any others. You only learn not to make mistakes when you can look back at your career and see where things went wrong. Where you should have gone for the pin instead of the piledriver. Where you should have stalled for time instead of going back into the heat of battle. Only an ignorant fool would ignore this key factor. Experience is ALWAYS the deciding role in this sport. A match between two men equal in any other area except experience will see the man who knows the ring better come out on top.

Chris, this ignorance is why I now can only see you as a stepping stone. Might it be a mistake to underestimate you? Of course. But how can a person who see's such arrogance in today's youth do anything else but chuckle at them? I'll risk this error as you have already made a greater one in not considering the role my past will play in this bout. Beyond experience there is passion, something youth may think they possess, but those who have come before, and seek to recapture the past have more of, because they have been there, and they have either tasted it or come so very close to tasting it. You will never find more passion than that in the heart of a man who has had greatness in his grasps, or near his fingertips snatched away. I have felt the latter, and Chris I don't desire to experience that feeling again.

The past......it to shall come to pass.

Fadein:A dim candle flickers , allowing the ever present cross that hangs majesticly, high above the dark alter to ppearer for brief periods of time. The camera slowly pulls out revealing "The Lost Cause" Chris O'Neill sitting upon the alter indian style. He is facing the cross, as the camera spins around revealing his face. Half in the shadows, the other half illuminated by the lone candle in the church.

O'Neill:"Look skyward Jobber, you talk in a sense that the past defines us. Ponder his past, ponder the thoughts that rip through his spirt every moment of civilization! For each one of us believe, we all believe something! Yet we let his past fall by the way side! We let the ultimate sacrafice mean nothing! Now think Jobber, I am sure your asking yourself this very second, "WHAT IS THIS GUY TALKING ABOUT?" Thats why I must tell you, Don't question it yet, don't think what your thinking because odds are its wrong and off base. Because you need to realize if the past mattered, if the past is what the future is based on, the world today, well it won't be the world today! Because HUMAN EVOLUTION does'nt allow the past to have a direct line to the future!"

HUMAN EVOLUTION, is not something physical or even something we can see, its something inside us, its the mental growing we do that allows us to become not the person we are, but the spirit we are becoming! But for that to happen JOBBER,we need direction, a sense of worth, a REASON! And for many years that REASON, well it was never just one REASON, it was more like ten at a time! And because there were multiple reasons, I was unable to grow properly as a person. All were rather petty now that I think about, considering what that man who was nailed to the cross, compared to what his reason for HUMAN EVOLTION was. But now the direction I have sought for so long to fine, has revealed it self. Its a direction with self graditude at the roots, but thats ok! So Jobber, I ask you to remember.....FEAR THE BELIEFS!!!!!!!!

Thus Spake Zarathustra

(Cue up "Man of Action" by the Matthew Good Band.)

(Fade in to the same room as before, the same couch, and the same "the Jobber" sitting on said couch. He sits there with the same sort of look into the camera, and begins to speak.)

The Jobber: You say your words may confuse me. Your words do not, the thought process behind them does. All you had to say was "I believe in existentilism" and then shut up. You would have saved the world 5 minutes of boredom as you went around preaching some idiots version of existentilism that you read on a burnt copy of one of Sarte's books in some bus station. But instead of just saying "The Jobber, you are wrong, I am an existentilist and believe man must create his essence" you kept talking, and talking spouting more quasi existentilist hooey. You just forgot one... one minor detail. That when doing an interview for a wrestling match, its custom to maybe think about the match itself. I'm quite certain that your bastardized existentilism will find you many fans when you start a lousy rock band in a few years, but your feeling that man will evolve into some form of energy will do little to intimidate me. It will also do little to change my feelings that you are little more than an insect waiting to be squashed along my road to the GLCW championship.

I'm also not quite certain why I should "fear the beliefs." If anything I probably should pray for your beliefs to enter into this matchup. It would be quite helpful for you to respond to my knife edge chops with a philosophical rebuttal. In fact, I beg of you to do this. Since there is little chance that you will be a physical match for me in this ring, you might as well answer a suplex with "I believe existence preceeds essence!" That will sure show me. Perhaps when this "HUMAN EVOLUTION" you speak of occurs wrestling will cease to be a contest of human chess, and will instead be a contest of philosophical debate. Men will recoil in pain and suffering as you introduce Plato's concept of the utopian society and the philosopher king, only to see the tables turn when his opponent stuns his opponent with Aristotle's belief that the polity was the closest to an ideal state. Then out of nowhere the match will switch to moral philosophy, and the crowd will think the match is over when David Hume's belief that morality is subjective comes into play. The referee will count ONE, TWO... But somehow there will be a kickout. The crowd will be stunned when out of nowhere the man who just seconds before had his shoulders to the mat will bring up his trademark philosophical debate, and claim victory with Schopennhauer's theories on the will.

"Lost Cause" you may wonder why I went into this long, and quite pointless description of the future of professional wrestling. If you are confused, I only ask for you to compare the utter pointlessness of this description with the complete pointlessness of the philosophical hooey you introduced in your interviews. You can continue to train for the day when wrestling becomes what I have described "Lost Cause", but at the present time there is just one small problem. In this era we still wrestle. I don't think a single person can blame me for overlooking you. At this point all we know about you is that you have quite a few piercings, and are an existentilist. That really isn't a stunning resume as a professional wrestler. If you suddenly become a being of pure energy in the middle of this match your current train of thought may have paid off, but since that is pretty unlikely, I only ask you to think of all the time you have wasted. When you come down to the ring completely unprepared, and take a beating you never saw coming, please don't bother your next opponent with the same sort of drivel. Don't waste the time of everyone who views these interviews, they don't care to see what a wrestler believes the entire point of human life is. They just want to see the lead in to a clash of two men. There may come a day when your type of wrestling will come to pass, but in this day it is not welcome in the squared circle. Not only is it unwelcome, it will only cause you to be a lamb brought out for the slaughter.

The New Rise.....

Fadein:A mans foot rests in the wet sand, slight roling waves cover his foot. As the waves cease, for the slighest moment, the foot draws a line in the sand only to have it wash away, each time a wave rushes up the beach. This goes on numerous times, and each time the foot digs deeper and deeper into the sand in and attempt to keep the line from beging erased. The camera pans up, and shows "The Lost Cause" Christopher O'Neill just dressed in rolled up blue jeans, staring very focuse at the line he can't manage to keep in the sand.

O'Neill:"Its very obvious Jobber that you don't get out much, that you can be described as a simple hermit. Well the outside world offers many new and fresh ideas! And not all of those ideas fit into nice little niches that you like to carve out for things! You see I don't think of myself as anyone thing, I don't fit any one mold! I don't fight the evil for the sake of the good, and I am not evil for the sake of being evil! I am pure in the greatest sense of pure! You see the line I try to place here in this sand is the line we all try to place in our lives. And no mater how many time we try to be on either side of the line, it never happens, someone or something always puts us right back on that fence, right in the middle with no direction. Because the causes on either side of the line are not that important! The truly don't require us to give an all out effort!"

"Well thats until now, until you Jobber have given me a jolt, by questioning my wrestling ability, by questioning my heart and by attempting to sum me up in one word! My friend, you are in need of a lesson, you need to filled with knowledge that just might help you. Don't think I am not a wrestler, don't think your not going to taken to the limit and back, and don't think that you will ever forget you were in the ring with a LOST CAUSE! For no matter what the outcome I plan on showing up and CRUCIFYING you! Your attempt to be above me in the use of your words, you try to belittle my appearence, you just take me as a stepping stone to greater things here, that all will come to pass when two minutes into our match you will realize that am still there going toe to toe with you!"

"You don't understand what this is all about, you don't understand me, and the methods and mindgames that lead to my madness! Don't try to understand, don't try to figure them out, just remember....TO FEAR THE BELIEFS, FOR THE PHOPHECY IS COMING!!"

The Jobber

(Cue up "Skafinger" by The Toasters.)

(Fade into the same scene we have seen twice before. The Jobber still sits there on his couch, but this time seem a bit more distant, and far less interested than he did before. He perks up for a moment, but quickly sinks back into the couch and begins his prepared remarks.)

The Jobber: "I'm not an awful wrestler, and I will challenge you in this matchup." You could have saved us all a lot of trouble by just saying these words and then shutting up. Instead you claim that you cannot be summed up in one word, and that you defy all conventions. Thats funny, because I can sum you up in one word. "Conformist" will do quite nicely. You try so hard to be different, but in the end you look the same, and talk the same as so many in our business. Pseudo philosophy, and quite a few tatoos or piercings to make yourself a rebel, and we have another opponent that I can't distinguish from half of the other guys I've faced in my career. Since I've already explained your beliefs in one word, it baffles me as to what you consider so complex about yourself.

It's amazing you finally noticed that we actually have a matchup in your final interview. It only took what, 3 segments for you to realize that you are fighting me, and that we aren't debating the true meaning of life, the universe and everything? Sure getting you to realize you have a match with me has caused you to make threats about "crucifying" me and the like, but I'm not too worried. I'm just glad that I will be able to enter the ring and face a certain conformist, rather than waiting for you to be dragged away from a local poetry slam so you can fall in battle. Of course before you could tell me that you would actually show up for this match, you had to restate that you are indeed a "Lost Cause" and that I must be filled with knowledge. I can't seem to figure out how you being a "Lost Cause" relates to anything in this match. Are you a lost cause to become a human being who is able to find their essence? You should really rethink this whole nickname thing, and have it make sense.

And why in the hell must I be filled with knowledge? I am quite knowledgeable with the whole basis of your philosophy, and with regards to professional wrestling it really doesn't apply. Finding my essence isn't going to make me the superior athlete in this contest. Meaning in my life, or even your life won't bring either of us closer to the finals of this tournament. It can rarely be said that I am the more focused athlete in a match, but "Lost Cause" I must say that your last second busrt of attention span hasn't changed my opinion of you, or your chances in this match. While you are off asking the time keeper if he has meaning in his life, or the mat if it has found its essence, I will be ready to deliver the final blow in the bout.
