Better late than never lol

Segment - All for the Common Good

Thoughts: Although I wrote part of this, this was a pretty good hype segment by the heels for the ten man tag later tonight. It put the exclamation point on the fact that Sylo's team would be facing the Legacy, Underground, and Relentless Champion along with the West Texas Terrorists, a fast rising team in jOlt. In other words, this got the point across that Sylo's opposition was a force to be reckoned with. I liked the segment and not because I was in it lol

======================================================

Segment - **** Off, Kind Sir

Thoughts: After the beatdown from Jason Rau on Warriors 3, It looks like Greg went and got himself a concussion and in typical Greg Vinent ego fashion, he ignored a doctor's warning about it. Greg Vincent is that old school asshole ego heel and this segment fits that persona. You know he's going to bite off more than he can chew by ignoring the doctor's advise though. This should set up for an interesting match later on tonight. Good job.

======================================================

Segment - Rules of Engagement

Thoughts: Sylo in love!? Damn, son.. but if it was Aria, I wouldn't say no, either! Nice segment here with Sylo getting physically prepared, but then it looked like all that intensity slipped away and melted into the arms of Aria! After it all happened, Sylo just went back to warming up.. My one little peeve is that he completely ignored the situation. I would have had Sylo do a push up.. stop.. look back.. then continue doing push ups.. like one last glace as if to say "did that really just happen". That's just my little 2 lira on the whole thing, otherwise, this segment was awesome.

======================================================

Match #1 - Underground Rules - Greg Vincent vs Sanchez Cano

Thoughts: If this were any Underground Match, I'd say the match was pretty good. Had the right mixture of wrestling and violence for free tv, but I have one question.. what the hell happened to Greg Vincent's concussion from two segments ago? Either A) Greg Vincent sucked down a bunch of morphine, B) Heals faster than Wolverine or C) Forgot about this thing called selling. I'm willing to go with C.

======================================================

Segment - Never...

Thoughts: No complaints here with this segment. The interaction between Phoenix and Sylo was nothing short of amazing. Very good read here.

======================================================

Segment - History Repeats

Thoughts: Holy **** it's JCON, but pretty good segment here as Sylo was able to snag up the jOlt International Champion for his team. Now Sylo had a champion on his side to combat the evil forces of the former Team Johnson! Another well-written segment

======================================================

Match #2 - Demon of Dublin vs Bane Loneheart

Thoughts: This was a very short match with a kind of confusing finish. After taking a few pipe shots from Loneheart, all he did was kick him in the chest and that sent Bane flying to the outside and that was enough to finish him? Kind of an unbelievable finish and not unbelievable as incredible.. more like.. I can't see that happening.

======================================================

Segment - The Unwanted Message

Thoughts: Good hype from Citizen here. Restating how he has been carving his path here in jOlt and now he looks to do the same against Reno Davis here tonight. One of the favorites alongside Khristian Keller to win the tournament.. tonight he looks to show us that he can do more. Short, sweet, to the point. I liked it

======================================================

Segment - Why Are You Here?

Thoughts: All I can say is DAMN... what Sylo wants.. Sylo GETS. He Chris Hansens Ray and tells him to sit and then questions why he's here to just straight up forcing himself onto him until Sylo forcefully recruits Ray onto Team Sylo. If only Aria was in Ray's spot, this would be the beginnings of a great porno. Again, love this segment and I love the assembly of Team Sylo thus far! Keep 'em coming!

======================================================

Match #3 - Underground Rules - Citizen vs Reno Davis

Thoughts: Wow.. the third match with Underground Rules tonight. This is turning into ECW. I was getting scared as it looked like another Underground match with no weapons until Davis just went to the ACME shop at the end and poured them into the ring. I felt the weapons, while were used, came in a bit late.. Should have been paced a little bit more throughout the match, but it once again showed Citizen is one tough SOB and a legitimate threat to Derecho's title.

======================================================

Segment - God Save the Queen

Thoughts: HOLY **** CHYNA IS IN jOlt.. no wait.. it's Daryn Thompson and she El Kabonged the hell out of Aria Murphy with her elbow. Then we get Rune Winters who threatens Daryn with his shovel, but Daryn teaches Rune that one doesn't simply WHOCK into jOlt... with the help of Chris Titan that is. Rune is down again at the hands of his trusty shovel. Derecho should sue for infringement. Great segment.. Aria looks to not be joining Team Sylo now and a good debut for Daryn Thompson

======================================================

Segment - What's Coming

Thoughts: Wow.. really short segment. We got news of a tournament and Avispa's focus, but that's about it. Could have used more substance.

======================================================

Segment - A Victim of Responsibility

Thoughts: Damien Lee discovers Phoenix. Another potential for Team Sylo bites the dust.. things aren't looking too good here..

======================================================

Match #4 - 10 Man Tag

Thoughts: I'll refrain from commenting since I wrote it and I don't like talking about my own work.

======================================================

Overall Thoughts: Wow... holy f.ucking segments batman. This iNtense was SERIOUSLY unbalanced. While the quest to build Team Sylo was great from beginning to end, it just seemed to flood the card. With that many segments, it should have been the match's jobs to fill in the rest of the card with some amazing stuff, but with one match not selling a segment and another having a pretty short time slot and a confusing ending, the matches really didn't prop up the opening and mid-card. The ten man tag was a little much and even I thought so and Im the one who wrote it. I think it could have been better it was 3 on 3. Rau and Chavez could have been left off Team Sylo since it seems that they have hatred.. and the Terrorists could have been left off "Team Johnson". I think that would have made it better.

If I had to give this a grade, I'd say i'd give it a C- The only reason it didn't get a D is because the segments were really well-written, but the matches just didn't deliver. match of the night goes to Citizen and Davis for me.

Segment - All for the Common Good

Thoughts: Like Josh said, this was a good hype segment for the main event. I liked that Josh had Derecho acknowledge the fact that he was the one that ended the infamous streak and took the Legacy Championship from Sylo. Ideally, this could have brought Sylo out for a war of words that really set-up the main event but even still the segment was solid enough on it's own.

======================================================

Segment - **** Off, Kind Sir

Thoughts: Greg Vincent, to me, reads as if he should be a parody character. Just the sheer amount of blatant ripping off of nicknames and such make him unintentionally hilarious. The concussion thing is, these days, a very serious thing. Even with a minor concussion Vincent wouldn't be cleared to enter that ring and will most likely receive some backlash for allowing it. But, hey, that makes for a good news post. Overall, this segment alone was a big improvement over last week's stuff.

======================================================

Segment - Rules of Engagement

Thoughts: Sylo's mantra is pretty cool. I was very cautious in giving Justin the okay to use Aria in a romantic type of setting. I'm protective of her and not having her become arm candy, which she didn't do in this segment and that's a very good thing. There is a lot going on with Sylo right now and, honestly, I think we may be slightly losing sight of what his true goal is when he's on these roller coasters during the shows. It rounds out the character, sure, but at times it makes him look like he may be bipolar.

======================================================

Match #1 - Underground Rules - Greg Vincent vs Sanchez Cano

Thoughts: I really wish, like Josh said, the concussion would have been sold in this match. I think an opportunity was missed to take Vincent in a direction that would have helped develop him more. The way Cano was handled I'm not a huge fan of in this match. I'm starting to find the amount of knockouts in jOlt to be heading into the overkill territory. Ten counts in pro wrestling take forever and having so many matches end in them is taking away from the impact (pardon the pun) a knockout should have.

======================================================

Segment - Never...

Thoughts: This was a good read and Phoenix is starting to remind me of a face Suicide, which is not a bad thing. It may be cool to see what heel Suicide has to say with all these masked creepy crusaders running around when he makes his jOlt debut. Good interaction with Sylo and it's nice to see him go two segments in a row without flipping the **** out because last iNtense he was all over the place.

======================================================

Segment - Trust Me

Thoughts: Are you serious, bro? I wouldn't trust Keith Kane with holding my soda, let alone my career in his hands. Has Ray Chavez never actually watched an LoC show? The guy is a complete sleazeball. I'm liking this new direction for Chavez a lot after his attempt at being the top heel in LoC fell through. It's cool to see that his fall from grace is actually taken into account and used for fuel in this storyline, rather than having him return all cocky as if he didn't get jumped by Team Johnson and fired.

======================================================

Segment - History Repeats

Thoughts: Good segment but JCON was slightly out of character, however, Justin wrote this so you can't blame him since JCON is not, in fact, his character. I would have liked this a lot more, I think, if these two guys absolutely hated each other ... because they should with their history. The focus should have been more of JCON telling Sylo he was going to be on his team and Sylo telling JCON to kiss his ass, only to have their argument end in JCON getting what he wanted anyway. There's a lot of history between these two and I think just glancing over it was a bit of a misstep for this segment, which had the potential to be a mark out moment.

======================================================

Match #2 - Demon of Dublin vs Bane Loneheart

Thoughts: I'll take the blame on this one. I missed the boat on posting a segment between Damien Lee and Bane that had him enter this match as punishment for his attacks ... but this show was so seg-heavy that I decided to skip it and let the match stand on its own, which it did do. The segment would have helped the length of the match seem more in tune but it is what it is. The match wasn't bad at all and I don't mind a short match in the least, but I can understand why people might have wanted more.

======================================================

Segment - The Unwanted Message

Thoughts: I smiled when I saw the play on words here with Reno Davis' nickname. Another good segment by a creepy masked face character. These two are, so far, outdoing the egomaniacs in the fed. You cocky bastards need to step your game up.

======================================================

Segment - Why Are You Here?

Thoughts: This was a great segment for developing Chavez. Out of all the Sylo segments, thus far, this one is my favorite because these two characters play off each other so well. Both are making transitions in their careers but are on completely opposite sides of the spectrum. Great read.

======================================================

Match #3 - Underground Rules - Citizen vs Reno Davis

Thoughts: Can I just say that Jesse uses announcers perfectly? This was a good Underground match that actually felt like an Underground match. Hell yes, this is ECW!

======================================================

Segment - God Save the Queen

Thoughts: Honestly, I didn't plan on this segment going in that direction. I had two segments planned for Aria/Daryn and Rune/Titan but, again, with such a seg-heavy card I decided to combine them into one super segment. And the end result? Titan hit Daryn in the face with a shovel. That is all.

======================================================

Segment - What's Coming

Thoughts: Very short segment, indeed. I think this should have either been longer or been written as a news post for the site.

======================================================

Segment - A Victim of Responsibility

Thoughts: This was cool because it shows Damien Lee again actually caring about his workers, which is a huge departure from the days of Black Tom/Jim Johnson in LoC. I like a face running the shows and I like what you guys get to do because there's no one meddling in your business.

======================================================

Match #4 - 10 Man Tag

Thoughts: This match was crazy and you can say anything you want about how it could have been better but the fact of the matter is this was one seriously tough match to write and Josh did a great job with it. Originally, Sylo was supposed to go into this with a handicap but so many guys jumped on it that it built into a 5-on-5 rather than a 5-on-2 or 3. Hard, hard match to write and accomplish what everyone wanted to see, which I think Josh did an excellent job of doing.

======================================================

Overall Thoughts: Very segment heavy but I'll tell you right now I will take that over match heavy because people will actually read a segment heavy card. The main event probably should have been for Warriors 04, in retrospect, but it is what it is and it was a good read. Not our best card, to date, but not our worst either. We're showing steady improvement and the characters are starting to fall into place nicely. Rolling into Divide & Conquer this was a great card to establish who's who in the fed.

I'm not going to do a full review - just something I noticed and was curious about. It seems like Rune Winters has gone from being one, bad motherfucker to a punk in the span of eight shows ... what's up with that? Derecho squashed him (I think) and now a combination of Titan/Thompson led to him being beaten with his own shovel. If your plan is to have him serve as an enforcer of rules, him not getting his ass kicked might sell that and actually rebuild the credibility he's lost.

I agree with you guys on how Cano has been portrayed. Need to hammer home that some of these NPCs aren't just fodder. jOlt/LoC has never been traditional in the use of NPCs and not sure everybody gets that. Cano is probably a top 3 Lightweight around here and he's getting pounded. I know there's a few other NPCs that can probably be considered legitimate contenders to titles and they need to pick up wins/be portrayed as such.

Personally, I'm finding I suck at feedback. Though Josh and especially Dan which was a shot from left field I wasn't expecting, thanks.

To Dan: I don't think you have much to worry about. It's like chess, you make your moves, and though the board seems full and the moves seem endless you never forget your objective is to take out the king :cool:.

That's a good point and I'll work on that. Cano's bio isn't the fullest but there's a general idea of his wrestling style on the website.

Ray's been keeping track of everything that happened with the characters but, yeah, the Flyweights have been all but nonexistent on the shows this arc. Here's the thread anyway: http://www.fwrestling.com/showthread.php?23382-jOlt-Character-Summaries

I'll have to figure out the best way to provide easy information on the NPCs, as far as what's going on with them for the arc. Also, if anyone wants to grab an NPC and flesh out their moveslist/gimmick please do that. I mean, why isn't anyone using Sweet, Sweet Lovin'? They're gold, I tell you! GOLD!

Thats the reason i pushed cordova so he can have some heat at the ppv. But i wouldnt mind taking an npc and fleshing out an angle. However it would have to be something short and sweet. Gotta have family time plus my work schedule, but y not just dish out a seg or two for npcs that r in matches for that show. Just a page, dont have to be much. Anyone could do it. If a person had spare time that week write a small seg and call it out ob the breakdown. Just go by the character breakdown ray has up and com up with something... I will also do this from time to time.

What I mean by fleshing them out isn't handling them so much as completing their bios. Tramel came in during the LoC days and made movelists for all the NPCs, which really helped people get a feel for writing them. So, stuff like that would help me out a whole lot since a lot of guys back here are encyclopedias of wrestling move information.

Since I've been working with a lot of the NPCs I don't mind helping to flesh out more of the tag teams in jOlt. There's some good NPC teams that can stand to be fleshed out some more and I can get some movelists posted for them back here.

Kind of fell behind on the reviews and summaries, but I plan on getting around to them today. 1st week of school murdered me! I'm still planning the core of my Arc 2 angle, then I'll be adding interactions with key wrestlers and personalities. I need to find out where the matches fit in as well, since I've been thrown different stuff by different people, which doesn't add up.

Part of that is that I gave no input on the seg and played no part in writing it... the way J was trying to do it as it was explained to me is how it appears on the card but in hindsight I wish my light bulb would of went on... I think part of that was me being in face mode with JCON instead of JCON mode with JCON.

Jolt Intense 38 Review:
Note: with limited prior knowledge of happening in LoC or the previous version of Jolt.

I.SEGMENT: “All For the Common Good” feat. Superstar Vince Jacobs
a. Like: Segment
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: Sylo was the focal point of the group, which means he has the target on his back, regardless of who his teammates are. The group seems united enough to get the job done, but I couldn’t help but feel Derecho has his on the prize, whatever that may be. I would have liked to hear more from SVJ, especially being the Legacy champion. I did like how he brushed off the fear, such a heel, haha.

II.SEGMENT: “**** Off, Kind Sir” feat. Greg Vincent
a. Like: Character development
b. Dislike: Iffy
c. Comments: Vincent is coming off more like an unstable lunatic. He’s a tough SOB, but his attitude may get him into trouble. Greg is new to the company, yet he’s trying to do too much too quick. The fans see him as unstable and sort of indy. Greg should focus on quality and less on quantity, and maybe the fans will be able to connect a little better. Time will tell on this one.

III.SEGMENT: “Rules of Engagement” feat. Sylo
a. Like: Interaction
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: I really enjoyed the interaction between Aria and Sylo. People are getting a different version of Sylo they probably aren’t ready for. This is sylo with a soul! You mean the beast can feel? Well, of course he can! I was surprised she was the first one to offer her services, but I’m sure it meant a lot to Sylo.

IV.MATCH: “Greg Vincent v. Sanchez Cano”
a. Like: Submission
b. Dislike: Lack of Cano offense
c. Comments: The match was pretty quick with a minimal amount of moves. This only happened to work because it was the first match of the night. It came off surprising that Vincent caught Cano in a submission and actually pulled off the victory. I’m still not seeing enough to put Vincent over with the fans. He’s tough, which I like, but he needs something to really spin him off. I do enjoy the megaSTAR name though.

V.SEGMENT: “Never…” feat. Sylo
a. Like: The back and forth
b. Dislike: Below
c. Comments: I liked how this segment setup Phoenix to be a part of Team Sylo. I don’t know what it is about Phoenix, but I find it hard to follow his dialogue. I mean, I get it, but would the fans? I don’t know where I stand on this segment in whole though. It served its purpose I suppose.

VI.SEGMENT: “Trust Me” feat. Ray Chavez
a. Like: Null
b. Dislike: Null
c. Comments: I’m behind on these reviews, so I’m omitting my stuff for this week.

VII.SEGMENT: “History Repeats” feat. Jonathan Conspiracy
a. Like: Entire segment
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: This segment was impressive and caught me off guard. They both showed chemistry and I truly enjoyed JCONs character and how his uncertainty played out along with Sylo. Great work!

VIII.MATCH: “Demon of Dublin v. Bane Loneheart”
a. Like: The Demon
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: The match was a solid debut showing of Ivan. Yet another monster to add to the roster of big men already in jOlt. He finished Bane quite easily, but it actually worked in this showing. Good job.

IX.SEGMENT: “The Unwanted Message” feat. Citizen
a. Like: The medium
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: I’ve become a fan of Citizen’s cryptic jOltvision messages each week. The vocalizer adds the eerie desired effect and he says what he needs to in order to make his point. I particularly like the part about him taking some of the worst beatings and still beating every man put before him.

X.SEGMENT: “Why Are You Here?” feat. Ray Chavez
a. Like: Interaction
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: Had to comment on this because it’s one of my favorite segments with Chavez thus far. I won’t say anything else on this.

XI.MATCH: “Citizen v. Reno Davis”
a. Like: Entire match
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: This was a solid tournament match that I really enjoyed. It length was just right and still managed to play to the strengths of both characters. Citizen came off with the fans strongly in his corner. I still say he has one of the coolest finishers on the roster too. Really enjoyed the use of the commentators as well.

XII.SEGMENT: “God Save the Queen” feat. Aria Murphy
a. Like: Titan’s final blow
b. Dislike: Nothing really
c. Comments: I was glad to see some females again. I’m really hoping jOlt doesn’t misuse the women of the company in the wrong way. From what I’ve seen here, they haven’t! Aria Murphy gets attacked by a rookie, leaving fans shocked. Out comes the sheriff to the handle his business, until Titan emerges. I don’t think Rune is going to appreciate being knocked out by the new starlet. I truly loved the makeout + knockout via Titan. Instant heat for Titan, and even some surprising cheers for the finale. All characters benefitted from this segment.

XIII.SEGMENT: “What’s Coming?” feat. Avispa Ultima
a. Like: Nothing
b. Dislike: Segment
c. Comments: Short. Filler. Nuff said.

XIV.SEGMENT: “A Victim of Responsibility” feat. Damien Lee
a. Like: Phoenix not giving up the name
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: This was unexpected and an awesome segment before the main event. Phoenix is attacked and one has to wonder if it’s the same person that attacked One Eye. He isn’t giving up the name, which is an interesting twist. Sadly, Lee is still far from being in control, even with Rune Winters, especially after what happened with his enforcer tonight.

XV.MATCH: “SVJ, Derecho, Nashvillain, WTT v. Sylo, JCON, Chavez, Rau, Wippit
a. Like: The craziness
b. Dislike: Nothing
c. Comments: What a difficult read! Not in terms of writing, just length and chaos that ensued. I did like the match itself though. Everybody seemed to get their shots in here and there. It ended with Sylo raging out and damn near killing the Terrorists. Wippit was able to calm him down, which many should pay attention to, I’m sure. The champion came out on top though by catching Sylo off guard. Tonight was a victory for SVJ and his band of brothers. Great main event.
