::Jonathan Marx is sitting on the church steps dressed as ANTAEUS with his mask in his hand::

****ing Chaos. I told you Chaos that if we didn’t work together to beat Rabesque that this would happen, but you didn’t listen to me. Instead of Rabesque walking out without his title, both of us failed to achieve our mission. All of this running around under a mask and all of these sneak attacks have been for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

I could take all of this rage out against you, but what would that accomplish? Would that bring us any closer to bringing down Rabesque? You can’t help it if you’ve taken so many chairshots to the head that you can’t think straight and you can’t beat Rabesque when it matters in your THIRD attempt to take away his title.

But as much as I want to put the blame on you, this was all my fault. I was the one who was too late to save your ***** ass from getting beaten.

To the wrestlers in the back that I failed, I apologize. To all those fans I have failed, I apologize. I should have done more, And most importantly, I apologize to myself. I should have thought of a better plan, I should have done more to bring Rabesque down to his knees and make him crack. I shouldn’t have done the battle royal after expending all that energy training for my Ultratitle match against Manson and NEW World Heavyweight Title against Rabesque at the same time.

But I had the good of NEW at heart…. That is why I can’t understand why Alister Hayze decided to run in and attack us. We have never done anything to hurt or harass Alister Hayze. In fact, we were trying to help him and people like him by saving the title that Larry Tact built and restoring honor to the league instead of making it the Jean Rabesque show.

If we are really the bad guys, why was the spirit of El Arco Iris, Peter File, and Larry Tact all broken after Rabesque won the title? Why have I lost a bit of myself that I had to run around under a mask to try to win a title instead of going at Rabesque man to man?

Alister, I really want you to think about what you are doing by taking sides against us. I’d rather have you as a friend than as a foe.

Fade in on ALISTER HAYZE sitting on a milk crate in the back of his van.

ALISTER HAYZE: You know, I’ve been thinking about your question a lot, Jon. It’s the holiday season and everything, and you start thinking about all these different people in your life. You start wondering about how selfish you really are, about how much you take for yourself without even considering your friends. You start asking yourself: am I a giving person? And if I am, is it all the time?

I know how it looks. I’m aligned with the one and only Jean Rabesque, the NEW World Heavyweight champion…and I’m also in a tournament to earn myself a spot as the number one contender for the championship. Some might say that I’m being a hypocrite. Some might say that I’m a sneaky, backstabbing kind of an ally. I’m telling you now, kids: that’s not Al. I’ve never made it a secret that I want that title. It’s not ‘cause I want the big bucks. I mean, look around. Does it really look like I’m uncomfortable with my present situation?

Years ago, when I was just a little punk kid, a man named Benito Mendoza took me in and trained me. Taught me everything he knew, and then helped me work some other stuff out on my own. Those of you who know anything about me know the rest. The title isn’t for me. It’s for him. And since it’s not for me, I don’t think I owe Jean any kind of explanation for this tourney. It’s nothing personal, and he knows that. It’s just a life’s work coming to completion.

But I’m getting off the subject, aren’t I? I was answering a Gentleman’s question. “What’s in it for Alister Hayze?” “What did we ever do to you?” Well…as I remember it, Jon…it was you and Doe that jumped me in the back at the request of Marceau. It was you, not me, that started this whole thing. Besides that…Rabesque is one of the greatest athletes that I have ever seen. That man earned that title, and he has done a damn good job of defending it against all comers. And you guys…well, Jon, you’ve got some talent, I’ll admit that. But you’ve just been cowed into this kind of a fight by Doe, simply because he knows he could never beat Rabesque alone. He’s trying to surround himself with the best, with him as the leader, all in the hopes that he could get his hands on that belt. And that, my friend, is not earning it.

Rabesque did things the right way. He clawed his way to the top, and took what he deserved. I admire that. I intend to do the exact same thing, started with you, Jon. Starting with Rapture. No masks, no gangs, no underhanded attacks. I’m not interested in protecting Jean’s reign, because, quite frankly, I don’t care who has that title now. What I care about is making sure that the champion has earned that belt. What I care about is insuring that the man who can hold that belt over my head deserves that ability. I stand by Jean Rabesque because he is what a warrior should be. I stand by him, because DREDD is everything that I’ve always hated about this business. And thanks to this tournament, I get to try my hand at taking it apart, bit by little bit, starting with one man. You, Jon. The second bananas, if you will. I am a top-tier talent, there is no doubt of that. You, too, I guess. But we’re both playing the sidekick to our respective allies. At Rapture, we demonstrate that we’re too good for that. We show the world that we’re better than that, my friend. And I show you that your partner can’t save you. I show you why Alister Hayze, the man that stands beside the champ, is the guy that’s winning this tourney. He’s the man that’s gonna make sure that DREDD never gets the foothold they need.

Your precious little stable is nothing, Jon. So much of a nothing, that nothing more than little ol’ me is going to dismantle it. Starting with you, man. It all starts with you.

Fade to black.

::Jonathan Marx is sitting at a desk, going through his record as a nervous Brandon Jacobs stands by the side of the desk answering questions::

JONATHAN MARX: So, let me get this straight, we did attack Alister Hayze?

BRANDON JACOBS: Apparently on the 9/28 show ANTAEUS and John Doe attacked Hayze after his match.

JONATHAN MARX: I asked a member of the NEW management staff why Hayze attacked me and he said he we just coming down to help Rabesque. How come I have no recollection of this attack happening at all?

BRANDON JACOBS: You were off wrestling a match for NFW so we had to do a pre-tape without you and we had to find someone else to dawn the mask.

JONATHAN MARX: I just don’t understand why we did the attack in the first place. Why would we care about Alister Hayze? No offense to Mister Hayze, but we had just formed the card before as DREDD.

BRANDON JACOBS: I really don’t know Jonathan.

JONATHAN MARX: I have been trying to get in contact with Doe but he isn’t answering his phone. I have never dealt with such a bumbling idiot in all of my life. He has no right to go over my head to order an attack without my permission and if he does it again, DREDD will be DEAD.

BRANDON JACOBS: You really need to settle down, what has been done has been done. Alister is now our enemy.

JONATHAN MARX: Alister keeps on saying he wants to win the title for his dead mentor, which is a noble thought, but I am trying to win the title away from Rabesque for the LIVING. All of those fans out there of New Era who have been out there since day one and want to see that overrated piece of crap go down the bowl as he so richly deserves.

BRANDON JACOBS: I sense you are just a tad bit bitter today.

JONATHAN MARX: You go out there, you try to help people, but then they step all over you. I am way too nice to people and yet somehow I am a bad guy and that constipated old man Rabesque is a hero. **** them, **** all of them, I am going to do what is right for them whether they know it or not. It is enough that I have to play second banana for Manson in NFW, but I will not play second banana for Rabesque who stomped all over all the hard working people in the back just to get it. Just once I would like a chance to show how I could be as champion, just once and if I fail, they can do whatever they want with me.

BRANDON JACOBS: Your day will come eventually, but you can’t let this anger consume you. Take it out on the hippie.

JONATHAN MARX: I don’t want to take it out on Hayze, but if stands in my way in my pursuit for the NEW World Heavyweight Title, I must. I hate John Doe and I lose this match, I am going to make him pay.

Fade back in on Hayze, once again in the back of his van.

ALISTER HAYZE: You know, it’s always nice to hear that my peers are keeping up with current events. Yes, Marx, Doe and Antaeus attacked me. For the record, I have a sneaking suspicion that Marceau, with her tasty black, sicked you on me ‘cause I got all wise and stood up for myself. But for the record, Marx: I’d be on Rabesque’s side whether DREDD attacked me or not.

You people, your stupid gangs, your idiotic belief that numbers means power means gold means money. You guys bother me to no end. Maybe it’s because I like to do this lone wolf thing. You know, sans accompaniment. Solo. And because of that, it’s normally me against ten guys or so that think differently. But maybe, just maybe, ol’ Al’s heart is actually NOT a few sizes too small. Maybe I just see what you’re doing is wrong, man. Jean Rabesque has worked his ass off, he has climbed his way up the highest slope, and you? You’re just jealous. You’re jealous because you aren’t wear he is, and you think that the best way to get there is by building a human pyramid with you on top. I’ve got news for you, Marx. It’s not new news, but apparently you have an attention span that leaves a lot to be desired.

You’re not getting anywhere close to that belt. The minute you made friends with Doe, you made an enemy of me. I’m not gonna sit back and let little scumbags like you and John take that belt from Rabesque just because there’s two of you and one of him. I’m evening the odds, tying up the score, making sure that a hard-working, technically-gifted WRESTLER doesn’t get screwed over by two little nothings that want a bright and shiny new belt. And furthermore, those two little nothings aren’t even on the same page. Yeah, I get that you both hate Rabesque. The thing, I can’t see why. If the guy’s such an overrated asshole, then why couldn’t you take the belt from him in the cage, eh? The man has got talent, guys. It’s a hard thing for me to admit, but it’s true. That talent has earned him the World Heavyweight title belt.

And yeah, I want that belt too. That’s no secret. I mean, I’m in this tournament, right? And that’s the whole reason that I get you, one-on-one, all to myself, inside that ring. No steel cages, no brass knuckles, no hordes of friends. Just you, and me, in my favorite place to be. Your good, man, there’s no question of that, but inside of that ring, I am a GOD. And the thought that I’d get to pin your arrogant shoulders to the mat for a count of three…well…let’s just say that I don’t need the incentive of a title shot to make me take this match. You’re everything that I’d never want to be, man. You doubt yourself so much that you think you need help to do anything, and you’d rather take a shortcut than earn your shot. Everything that I hate…and after Rapture, you’re gonna be just another notch in the belt. You’re a W for me in the books. You’re a blow struck against all that is evil, and blah, blah, blah…

Basically, what I’m trying to say is, at Rapture, you’re all mine. And I personally cannot wait.

Fade to black.
