I just logged onto LordsofPain.net and the first thing that catches my eye is this article:

- Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Edward "Umaga" Fatu passed away around 6PM EST in a Houston hospital. Apparently he suffered his second heart attack and didn't make it through. He was 36.

WWE has confirmed Fatu's passing on their website with the following:

WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu’s family, friends and fans on his tragic passing. Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name "Umaga." Mr. Fatu's contract was terminated on June 11, 2009.

The man known recently to WWE fans as Umaga has died aged 36 after his second heart attack.. Recent reports said he was likely to be brought back to national TV with WWE. A heart attack at aged 36 is rare, let alone two. I'd write more but right now, I'm actually in shock. I loved his in-ring work, especially when he really was the "Samoan Bulldozer" and I'm shocked that someone who was only 10 or 11 years older than me could die after two heart attacks. Not sure if wrestling contributed, but coming days after a UK wrestler was paralysed in the ring I and friends in the business are concerned.

My thoughts go out to all of Edward Fatu's family at this time.

Awful news. For awhile, I was more into him than I was into Samoa Joe, his match with John Cena at the Rumble remains one of my favorite of this decade. RIP Umaga.

I'm not. Prescription drug and steroid abuse has never been dealt with in professional wrestling, and as long as it isn't, they will continue to die at shockingly young ages.

Not that it makes it any less of a tragedy.
