He who has power is saved from those who don't.

It was a convincing argument for a man who needed direction. Climb the corporate ladder and then rebuild the infrastructure brick by brick.

Merritt's version of the world was sick. A dream born out of fear with the promise that the creator's grip could be strengthened again.

It was a dream though. Full of potential yes, but reality had set in. Merritt was losing power.

In a fit of desperation, in a plea to gain mere space to breath, Merritt courted a virus to overhaul the system.

He who has power is saved from those who don't.

Mark Windham's existence is a contradiction, a continuous search for truth from behind a foundation of lies. A man who claims his haunted past crippled his future, while watching an abundance of wealth in royalties walk in.

Like the Boy Who Cried Wolf, Windham was once respected and trusted by his peers.

The Shadows have always been good to Mark. From conflict, pain, and honesty he's always run to the comfort of it's darkened arms. When the world caught on, Windham lost himself once more. But the right to sin he carved out of a broken past was only for show.

There's no more money to be made from Mark Windham. Merritt can tug, but as Mark full well knows, the strings no longer respond.

Yet, a virus must play it's self out.

It's what thousands have been waiting to see.
It's what those who loved the man, feared the most.
It's what Windham has prolonged for as long as he can.

The Lost Soul has come to an end.

The World Champion is no better than those he once tried to save. In a search for truth, Windham looked as far as he could stand. How can you go forward when you know you'll never be completely clean?

It didn't stop him though. When the end was near before, Mark always found another cause, surprisingly more helpless than the Lost Soul himself. It was a game to Mark, an excuse to ride until the next stop.

Maybe if he truly cared, maybe if in the process of saving others he somehow saved himself, could he have found the cure.

It's why they watched. Why so many stopped to buy a piece of the Lost Soul for posterity.

It never lasts forever.

Not when the truth eventually worms it's way out.

The lack of sanity the World title bought made the monster what it is today.

There's no more money to be made off Mark Windham.

When you feed the beast what it wants, all that's left is for it to grow old, curl up, and die.

The nameless, faceless souls Windham saved, why weren't their voices being heard? Windham listened, and heard a vision of how his greatest act of redemption could be to save the CSWA itself.

That's what the title meant.

From the depth of darkness, Windham returned holding light. He'd put the bottom line on his shoulders, roll the dice, and take another year off his body to see if the lie would still clear.

Grown men aren't taught morality. They choose to believe in it or not based on the actions of their fathers. If true, then Mark is to be pitied for what he witnessed when he was young.

What good would Windham holding the World title do a pack of hungry wolves? Mark cried he offered salvation, but it was a joke many of them had already heard. And for those who listened with virgin ears, it was a curse to Merritt that they weren't in a position to help. They were mere lambs being threatened by a bull.

The complete destruction of Troy's brother, if Windham were to die he wanted it to be a bloody mess.

What crosses will still sell?

What sins has the Lost Soul not yet paid in full for?

The drug addict knows.

Yes, Windham has talked often to those in need of hearing a sermon.

The addict.

Mark came back for him. They've always made money together. And for the future of the CSWA, Merritt's betting their last chapter will make more.

Contradictions.

He who has power is saved from those who don't.

In his search for truth, in the middle of countless sleepless nights, Windham never woke and looked for deliverance in the one place it hid.

Within.

There's more to Mark Windham than dollars and sense. He knows it. Yet it's a curse taught to him by his father, to cry for help only when no one is around.

There's more to Mark Windham.

He breathes.

Therefore hope of at last becoming a man holds.

It won't be easy.

With the cure around his waist, and a dance with the addict nearing, Windham has precious little time to answer the most glaring contradiction.

Can the Lost Soul be saved?

The truth that's haunted Windham for years, sits perched in plain view.

When he's willing.

God only knows how much longer Mark can deny the truth before time and luck run out.

Brothers

(CUT TO: Troy Windham, wearing a CSWA Doo-rag, stands in front of a PRIMETIME backdrop.)

TROY: Brother.

Mark, we only have a few things in common. Our family is our bond. The other is that we each have demons and we both face them the same way.

By going to war.

I've had my ups and my downs. Erratic behavior, walking out on contracts, arrests for nightclub disputes. Everyone said my entire career that I could've changed this sport, that I could one day look back at my career here and say that I was the greatest ever. Everyone said that my attitude and my penchant for partying, girls and short-cuts would one day come back to get me.

Mark, I've quit this sport almost as many times as you have. I've woken up in more than one clinic. I've had more than a few child support cases filed against me.

But, like you, no matter what has happened... I've come back for more. I could easily sit back and let the millions of dollars I've made ride out their course. But like you... I've always come back.

That's where the similarites end, Mark. You still think of me as The Slacker. The bratty little brother of yours who does things the wrong way, always crying out for attention. The little brother of yours who went about doing things his way, a way that was only going to fail.

Mark, one day you're going to find out that for all the glitz and glamour that I bring... for all the movie starletts I sleep with, for all the rock stars I hang out with, for all the lear jets I fly in... that there is a lot more substance to Troy Windham than there is style.

While YOU were busy in Sweetwater writing poetry, trying to find answers... I was busy fighting for something I believed in. I didn't believe that Hornet, Mike Randalls and my other arch-rival Eli Flair should be able to waltz all over a promotion that has my last name written all over it. I came back to fight with the man a lot of people call my REAL brother, Eddy Love... and I left with a lot more.

It took me flying off of second ters. Having my face rammed into cages. Having the vertabrae in my neck crushed. Having all five of my fingers broken. Having my wrist broken in not one, not two, but three places. Unconscious for days. Skin grafts. Many surgeries. It took two wars aginst Eli Flair-- wars that have never been seen in the history of this sport. Wars that everyone predicted that once I was in, I would show my true colors and walk away from.

Mark Windham, I walked away with appreciation for this sport and for what I have. I walked away knowing what the CSWA has provided me with, what it can provide others with, and that it's part of my heritage, my livelihood. It's my home. And I, no matter what happens, am going to fight to defend that.

Mark, at Richmond, you'll be defending your title against Tom Adler. The same Tom Adler who I thought had it inside of him to to battle with me. The same Tom Adler who I thought I could recruit to destroy mutual enemies. The same Tom Adler who recently came out on national television and said to the fans that he had no chance to beat you. That he had no chance, because there's a bigger plan at stake for the CSWA World Title.

A few years ago, they said the same about me. Guns had the title. Hornet wanted it back. They had another war in them. Guess what? I came in and took them both for surprise, taking their trophy and showing the world that Troy Windham wasn't just a fool... that Troy Windham was the best in the business. I took the title from both of them and started the new era of the CSWA in the process.

I guess I did change this sport's history after all.

Mark, I'm going to do the same again, sometime soon. Hold onto your title. Crush Tom Adler. Beat Hornet. I'll be busy fighting for a cause that I believe in.

Because then, once and for all, we're going to settle it.

Two men without a lot in common.
Two men who call themselves brothers.
Two men who have both fought wars.
Only one is going to walk away.

I've walked away from every war I've been in.

I don't plan on lying down this time.
