So.

I've been thinking of buying a PS3.

I've also been thinking of not, and just buying some more 360 games.

Anybody care to weigh in and help a brotha out?

I bought a PS3 last year around November, after having an XBox 360 for the longest time. I think it's a better piece of hardware. There's some good Square Exclusives on the Store front, a few great arcade games, and quite a few exclusives that deserve to be played.

Uncharted is a game series that really appealed to me. Pushed me over the edge and I must say it's very well done.

Plus they have quite a few "collections" of PS2 games, Jak & Dexter, God of War, Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider, etc etc that are worth your time for nostalgia sake.

Free net access is a bonus, as is blu-ray content. I've used it more as a blu-ray player than anything. Granted, my hours gaming have nose dived in the recent months, but I do heartly enjoy my ps3. If I were buying a system today, I'd choose it, hands down over the 360(Unless you're interested in motion gaming. Kinect outscores Move by a bunch).

Motion gaming is for faggots.

And I already have a Wii and a 360.

And I doubt I'll ever buy a movie again, you know, since I have the internet.

Basically it's "Do I want to play the exclusives?"

I probably do.

I csn second thid, there's some real good exclusives for the ps3 and that gets more usage out of me than the 360 (Mass Effect 3 aside and that's only cause that's where my data is).

Every generation of consoles I say to myself, "You know, I'm content now. I've stopped at [last console released], and with the enormous catalog of games to play, I don't think I need to jump back in with a [newest console on the horizon]." Then time goes by, my will crumbles like dried Play-Doh, and I spring for the Next Big Thing.

Last year, I decided on a PS3 over the XBOX 360 for the following reasons:
1) I remain skeptical about the performance of the 360 on the hardware side. Too many horror stories, too many friends with problems, ruined systems and ruined games.
2) It seemed to me like the exclusives on PS3 outweighed the exclusives on 360. See: Heavy Rain, Uncharted series, Metal Gear Solid 4, to name just a few. That trend has continued with (I would argue) stronger dedication to exclusivity on Sony's part, and also, when games aren't exclusive, Sony will oftentimes add PS3-only bonuses to distinguish their versions (see: Kratos from God of War as a playable in Mortal Kombat).
3) Online is free. PSN may not be as good as XBOX Live, but again, no annual subscription fees.
4) Blu-Ray player. My fiance loves Harry Potter and Twilight movies, so this is a big sell in my house.
5) HD game collections. Great for playing those games you missed on the first go-round a generation ago. Intriguing sets for Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, and others.
6) PixelJunk Monsters. This was seriously like half the reason I got a PS3. What an addictive, awesome game.

I don't think the PS3 is necessarily better than the XBOX 360, but I do <3 my PS3. I don't have much time to play games, but I love NBA 2K12 and am currently taking my 7'2" afro'd version of myself through my rookie season with the Phoenix Suns. Great stuff.

I bought a PS3 at the time because I really wanted to play MSG4 more than i wanted to play any Xbox exclusives. Plus the Xbox clearly does have some hardware issues, unfortunately. Kind of a luck of the draw with that thing. I'm mostly uninterested in playing with the Kinect though I would love to play Gears of War or Forza. But not enough to own both. So I am happy with my purchase and the Blu Ray player I got with it.

Plus LittleBigPlanet is pretty fun and the PSN is free to use with Netflix, which, for me at least, is pretty huge.

I'm really late to the party buuuuut...

Free online play
Free to watch HuluPlus and Netflix
Over 50+ exclusive titles to X-Box's...like...5.
Better graphics (it's true, I have both, hooked both up in HD, and PS3 kicked the ever loving **** out of X-Box).

Overall you get a better experience, better quality, and you don't have to drop money on Gold to play online or be able to watch Hulu and Netflix (which is ****ing stupid by the way...WTF X-Box?)

You still gotta pay for a Netflix account though, eh?

They got some free movie crap, but it has bad movies and commercials.

PS3 4 lyfe! Seriously, if you get one..d/l Journey and go by the Silent Hill HD collection. If you own/buy movies, it's worth it as a blu-ray player alone.

I'm on PS3 as well, chaospherezero (I know, I know, shut it). I am not on so much anymore, though, as coding has been interfering with my video game/Netflix time.
