Re: DEFtv Match Writing Guide [READ THIS, YOU!]

Question for you, I'm good with all of this, but can mid-match pinfalls be handled differently? What I mean by that is, the first match I wrote I actually didn't incorporate the

    "One

    Two

    Kickout!"

Because there's 6 lines right there used up. I remember seeing some feedback that my match didn't follow the regular formula (it didn't, lol... I was so much more concerned with keeping it under 2 pages). Anyway sometimes, though not often, I'd like to write numerous pinfall attempts into my match. Definitely if it's a match that would go "longer" but doing that alone is going to kill my match length. I'm 100% game if it's a "true near fall" to go with the format suggested. (I'm also, obviously, fine if this idea is a no go lol). Anyway, your thoughts?

    Thank you!

    Good question.

Nobody is going to split hairs if you end up going, say, three-and-a-half pages because you've written a bunch of kickout spots. That's absolutely fine, because the formatting adds artificial length to the match.

I, personally, don't like passages like "Wrestler A does a move, he makes the cover, but only gets a two count." There's no suspense in that. Spacing the counts/kickouts out adds drama and makes it a more interesting read, and I wouldn't want us to vary from that.

That being said, I'd still encourage staying below three pages. The sample match given in the doc is on the longer side - I think most writers should be able to accomplish everything they need to in just over two pages, to be honest.

You make a good point (about keeping the suspense). Sounds good with me.

Question with regard to the music formatting.

I've copied and pasted and tried typing it out myself, but after the italic and center tags are used the match I'm submitting gets formatted to all black and a completely different font. If I take those tags out the whole thing appears in white as normal. Put them back and the same thing happens again.

Am I not doing something I should be, because I can't make head nor tail of why that would happen.
