THE HISTORY OF THE

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ONLINE

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

SEPTEMBER ?, 2001 - SEPTEMBER 9th, 2006

Unfortunately, the history of Championship Wrestling Online was not well-maintained over the years and thus much of it has been lost to time such as the name of the owner and the exact dates of many title different title reigns. The company was founded in September of 2001 and Edge (C.J.) was awarded the very first CWO World Championship. The company shut down on September 11th of 2001 out of respect for the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It reopened in 2002 and The Rock (Unknown) won the championship. The Rock lost the championship to The Undertaker (Unknown) and he reigned until the company shut down again. Upon its reopening, Triple H (Unknown) won the vacant championship. On February 17 of 2002, Triple H forfeited the championship after a management dispute and the championship was awarded to The Rock (Unknown), as he was the number one contender at the time.

We include this world title history as complete as we possibly can out of respect for the championship, the promotion, and the competitors who worked to make it what it is today. But not the owner.
