About Wrestling: Atlantic Coast
Wrestling: Atlantic Coast (AtCoast) is a Washington, D.C. based
professional wrestling promotion. AtCoast seeks to be a hybrid between Japanese
puroresu and traditional American professional wrestling. Furthermore, AtCoast
puts a high emphasis on tag team wrestling, often with main events consisting of
tag team matches, unlike most other American promotions where the main event is
nearly always dominated by singles competition.
Championships
Atlantic Openweight Championship
Open to singles wrestlers of any weight category or gender.
Atlantic Tag Team Championship
Open to tag teams of any weight category or gender.
In-Ring Conduct
- Matches occur in a four-sided ring with three ropes ringing it, with a
turnbuckle post in each corner.
- Matches are decided by pinfall, submission, or KO. Pinfalls are held for
three (3) counts before they register as a win. Submissions must result in the
victim giving a clear sign of giving in (tap-out, saying "I give up!", etc.).
Tap-outs are registered when the opponent taps the mat three times in rapid
succession. KOs result when a wrestler passes into unconsciousness; this is
decided by ten (10) count by the referee.
- Submissions that force the victim to pass out are not registered as a
submission victory because the opponent did not submit to the maneuver. They
are registered as KOs. Furthermore, in the event that the referee feels the
victim has passed out, he will administer a ten count to decide whether to
register a KO.
- Pinfalls and submissions may be broken by touching the ropes or
turnbuckles. Holding the ropes or turnbuckles while administering a pinfall
or submission results in the hold being broken and a ten second reprieve
being granted.
- Submissions may be held for a maximum of one minute before the referee
can break the hold. This break is conducted at the referee's discretion.
After such a break, a ten-second reprieve is granted.
- Wrestlers are given a ten count when they leave the ring before the match
is ended. Count-outs result in a draw, not a win for either side.
- Blows to the groin (conducted on males or females) are strictly forbidden.
A twenty (20) second reprieve is granted after such an attack and a warning is
issued.
- Chokes are strictly forbidden. The wrestler has a three-count to break a
choke-hold. A twenty second reprieve is granted when the move is broken and a
warning is issued. If the count is not honored, the wrestler will be
disqualified.
- Three warnings result in a disqualification.
- Wrestlers must remain clothed at all times with an article of clothing
securely covering the genital area. Accidental clothing loss results in match
stoppage. Purposeful removal of genital covering ("stripping") results in the
disqualification of the person who removed it (i.e., if Wrestler A strips
Wrestler B, Wrestler A is disqualified).
- In the event of a severe injury (i.e., one that requires immediate
hospitalization), the match is called a draw.
Title Contention
- AtCoast titles are continuously defended. AtCoast belts must defended
under AtCoast rules at all times.
- AtCoast allows the defending of belts from other promotions with the
parent promotion's consent. Other belts defended in AtCoast are defended under
AtCoast rules.
- AtCoast championships may transfer to wrestlers outside AtCoast under
these conditions:
- The AtCoast championship remains defended under AtCoast rules at all
time.
- The carrier(s) of the AtCoast championship defends it against a
designated wrestler/team from AtCoast at least once a month.
- Disqualifications are grounds for the changing hands of a championship.
- Draws result in the vacation of the AtCoast championship.
- In the event that a non-AtCoast wrestler must vacate a AtCoast
championship, AtCoast regains complete control of the championship.
